  1. Off work and no Newcastle game on Sat April 20th so a chance for me to get up for a game. Assuming saints finish top 6. Surely even they can't let that slip, can they? It's Scottish cup semi final weekend then. Hearts, Celtic, Rangers all involved so I'm guessing there won't be any top 6 SPL fixtures as a result?

Having watched St.Mirren away at Rangers and Hibs me and my two sons are coming up from London for our first home game against St.Johnstone. Any recommendations for the best pub to get in before and after the game please ? The boys loved the atmosphere on Saturday so also what stand is nearest the drum please ? Thankyou in advance.

Been a while I know, but how did it go?

Buy one get one free for strips and training gear at https://www.stmirrendirect.co.uk/

Lad at work down here said he fancied the home top so when i seen this offer i took advantage. Someone else turning heads with their Saints gear on soon 🙂. Ordered yesterday morning and delivered by 10 am today. Excellent! Really happy with the fit too. Couldn't fathom out how to order 2 in different sizes on line so took a gamble on a size up on my usual.

  4. Not long back. After much uncertainty everything fell into place. Trains ran, game was on and I got to see the lesser spotted saints away win. Even rarer at Pittodrie by all accounts. My heart did sink for a moment when the Aberdeen fan on the train near me told his mates there would be an 11 am pitch inspection. We were due to get off at 11.05. I e-mailed afc and they swiftly replied to say pitch was fine and game good to go....and relax! Both team and support were fantastic yesterday. A bit like Newcastle it's like being on one big rollercoaster ride. Got out for a good few pints in Aberdeen last night and enjoyed them despite having to run from bar to bar to try, in vain to dodge the incessant rain. Breakfast was funny when one or two Aberdeen fans were moaning this morning 😃. A good end to 2023. All the best for the NY everyone. COYS and Howay the Toon.

  5. Decided to go for it. Unexpectedly been able to drag the wife up there with me for a stay in the Copthorne. A step up from my usual travelodge/premier inn. She's not going to the game. Maybe a good thing as the last one was a 4-1 hiding at Livingston. Ordered my ticket today and been assured any tickets, including mine will be taken up there and be able to pick up from the Aberdeen ticket office. Sod Xmas, I'm looking forward to my Aberdeen trip.

It’s highly unlikely that there will be a cash gate.

St Mirren volunteer SLO (Karin) usually attends all away games and she has in the past brought along tickets purchased by fans living far away.

If I were you John I’d reach out to Karin at [email protected] and discuss this as an option.

After your advice I got a reply from an email to Karin saying while she won't be attending personally, one of her colleagues can meet me there with a ticket should I decide to travel. Decision to be made now 🤔.

  7. Fantasising, about a last minute trip to Pittodrie. If Fantasising is the right word lol.  Think that's the only SPL ground I've yet to visit. Would be good to get there before they move. What is the likelihood of paying at the gate? The last minute aspect will be to keep an eye on the weather and chances of the game being on.

    Fir Park 1993.

Nightmare wintery weather as we watched from the uncovered terracing a horror show on the pitch.

Train broke down on the way home too. Arrived back in Newcastle at about 2 am and had to start work at 6. Was only on a casual week to week basis at the time so had to make it in to keep my chances of being taken on. Was an absolute nightmare but I'm still working for them 30 years on anyway.

  9. Took me by surprise  but  Glennifer Thistle got a HT mention at the Newcastle v Burnley game yesterday. Think the announcer said U12s. There was a white 'Marbil' coach parked up outside too. Sure saints fans use those buses?

My daughter has been given this signed ball. Can anyone advise of the autographs on it and what era/year it is from. Think she wants to try and sell it for funds

I could only read Peter Godfrey (mid 80s) and Scott Walker. Without looking him up I'd guess late 90s/early 00s?

Brighton look a very good side but one of the worst I have seen for diving, screaming and time wasting. Some very weak refereeing allowing them away with it. Some of their football is brilliant but behaviour awful.

Those Arsenal fans had a cheek getting on Brightons backs. Their lot did exactly the same at Newcastle a week earlier. The "big 6" think they can do what they like though.

  12. Thought we were in for a repeat of the 1-0 home loss in 96 when we blew the title. Battered them 1st half without success then Cantona popped up with a 2nd half winner. The rest is history. Thankfully I was wrong today.

  13. In Benidorm now. Took a bus trip up the road to Calpe and spotted a couple getting off the bus. Noticed the bloke had a Mechelen sweatshirt on so I got talking to him. Turns out he was their physio for 34 years, now retired. His face lit up when I mentioned saints. "Ah St Mirren". You could see the memories flooding back as he started to reminisce. He told me many of his mates regard their Paisley trip as their best ever.

I can remember a game Newcastle played at Coventry in the 90s. Our keeper Shay Given put the ball down ready to kick it long when suddenly Dion Dublin appeared from behind him and put it in the net. The joke at the time was that Shay was the only Irishman who didn't know where Dublin was.
