I knew you would come back to mention Barcelona. I think what Barcelona have proved unquestionably is that there is no substitute for skill. You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. Coaching is important but it's only a means to an end. I remember in Matt Busby's time the eternal question was asked:- 'If you could hand pick the best eleven players in the world, would they become the best team in the world?' Of course it's unanswerable. Another great manager, Brian Clough , always maintained that there was no substitute for skill. You can improve some players, sometimes considerably, but they have to have the inborn skills.
Barcelona's fan ownership and success hasn't prevented them having among the biggest debt levels of the leading clubs in the world and reputedly paying the highest wages. I admit it's possible that Man City may now have that dubious honour. I will grant you that having something coming close to 200k. socios must be a big comfort. If St.Mirren can come up with around £11,000 per month from a thousand odd guys, just think what Barca could raise if needed. Mind you the economic situation in Spain can't be helping and the Euro could be in its death throws. And to think we're crapping ourselves at the thought of fans taking on £1m.of debt. As indeed we should be.

In the style of "Get It On With Bryan Burnett" I thought it would be interesting to have a thread where someone posts a song and the next person has to post another song which has a lyrical connection to the previous one. For example if someone posted "Who Are You" by The Who, the next person might post "I Am The Walrus" by The Beatles etc.
So to kick us off, I'll go with...

Please could all the numpties who are panic buying petrol today get off the forecourt so I, who's little orange light is blinking furiously, can purchase some in the normal fashion so I can get to my work tomorrow. Grrrrr
Just passed Morrisons and the Shell station at lonend and both a queued out onto the street.
Honestly! just had a conversation with an otherwise sensible adult in my work who insists that even though she put £20 in on Tuesday (enough to last her about 10 days by her estimate) she better go and fill up on the way home 'just in case'.
It didn't seem to matter that I explained that a strike had not been announced, or that they have to give notice before hand, or even that it is people like her who are exacerbating that problem.

This man, player, supporter has had many accolades but today, as if we needed any further proof, showed he is a true St Mirren great.
These comments are thrown around very easily but what this man brings to St Mirren cannot be measured.
Heard that Owen Coyle said he’s THE best signing he ever made.
Maybe Danny Lennon got lucky with him but one thing we cannot deny, a signing that is certainly one of our best and if anyone deserves a winner’s medal in March, and maybe May, this man does.
If he reads this, a wee invite to hospitality would be appreciated.

Driving all round the town as I do pretty much every day, its surprising how many pubs are lying closed and derelict.
The Park Bar, The Carbrook, The Bar Point, The Bowlers, The Stags Head (although there seems to be some signs of work being done), the former Dusty Miller, The Dooslan Stane, The Charleston, Bar Bossa, the one in Old Sneddon St that used to be Fiddlers Green/Look, the Institute and Irish bar along side, the Elbow Room, Harvies Showbar, the former Baillies/Fiesta.
Were there just too many or are the great Paisley public just no drinking enough?

You live in Arbroath right? Now I'm not an expert on miles but I'm guessing you are closer to Aberdeen than a lot of other Buddies on here but you didn't go to the recent midweek Cup Match. That's a pity; you could have taken your total of seeing our beloved Saints so far this season up to five. Still, you're right - you must be a better fan than me.
