Wouldn't disagree with that, sort of tells you where we are in the striker department......

I don't think it's unfair to say that on all evidence this season, Kristian Dennis is our most effective striker (granted we've not seen a fully fit Brophy yet).

A lot was made of Doyle-Hayes, McGrath, etc being injured - to me we have missed Dennis the most and our form suffered almost as soon as we lost him.

A win is a win, we done everything but score for most of the game and we'd have likely lost that last year.

    Onwards:thumbs2

Bench is barebones, desperate to get some players back. Erwin again worse than a man down when he came on. Think I counted twice when he got the ball & didn’t turnover possession.

    Final thought for the day.....

Please, please, please, please, please, please, please get Erwin to f**k.

He was absolutely fine when he came on - comments like this make me suspect the extent to which some people actually view the games every week, and how much is based off popular opinion/social media and flashes of previous games.

Not one player in the stripes had a poor game today and we were very unlucky not to gain all 3 points yet again.

McAllister is one i would let go, wasted wage imo.

    Despite being our top assister?

You would think our academy players would get the benefit of the doubt from supporters, so far this week i've seen Erhahon, MacPherson and now McAllister getting slated. Bizarre.

Slagging off a Hamilton Accies player who likes like he's a regular at the Sheriff Court is fair game, slagging off one of our female stewards is not.

    Fanny.

Opposition players are paid very handsomely to compensate for the (still unwarranted) abuse and comments they receieve.

General employees of our club are not - totally below the belt

That was a fecking disgrace, reverted back to the shitebags when playing old firm....

    Simply not the case.

We tried to have a go, unfortunately our execution was poor and Celtic caught us out with their system by sitting deeper and we failed to adapt.

If anything Celtic took on our early season tactics of soaking up pressure and punished us when we tired and lost concentration.

    It shouldn't and musn't.

FFS we are in 6th place with games in hand.

Any chance we could stop the catastrophising?

    It was one shit game.

All the more reason to not get complacent.

We've all seen collapses over the years at various levels.

Hopefully the players take tonight as a lesson and push on with their recent form.

  7. Well, that should put 'Top 6 in the bag' chat on ice for a while.

Started well - faded when McGrath went off. This highlighted how important he is and that all our other central midfielders are too similar, need to look for an alternative in the summer.

It was pretty obvious soon after our system had to go out the window but we were reluctant to change unfortunately.

Incorrect penalty award for me; very poor subs and a lack of concentration turns a tight game into a hammering. Real shame and hopefully morale is not too badly damaged.

  8. Agree with other comments regarding our style of play, to me we give ourselves a mountain to climb before the first whistle some weeks.

We are happy to play football between our CB's and JDH but once we step forward teams press us and we shell it long. It looked to me like Brophy was signed to provide an option for those long balls that are overhit and go behind the opposition defence.

Hopefully we start passing forwards and pressing teams as no team in this league outside the big 2 warrant any respect.

  9. Contrary to boo-boy belief Erwin has been heavily isolated, against 3 physical defenders with not much service at all.

Decent effort and good ball through to Connolly in the first half.

Would like to see us firstly push up the park a bit more and also Erwin and Brophy up together for 30 mins.

  10. Not a particularly bad performance, but Rangers didn't have to really get out of 2nd gear to get the points.

Different subs could've made the game a lot less comfortable for them i'd say; no real reason to have 2 defenders on down the left side after it went 2-0 for example, could've definitely changed upfront sooner and Connolly looked tired long before he went off.

I'd take the opportunity to rotate against Kilmarnock.

Up top is tombola time. Either 2 up or 1 up with one floating. Personel pose problems here. I want to like Erwin but he seems out of shape and out of sorts. Big John has feet made of lego and gets smaller when he jumps but has a fair scoring record. Im hoping the menace when fit plays off a slimmer fit Erwin tbh, or let's get a decent out of contract forward. Such dilemmas....

Goal every 4 games at Premiership level.

With all due respect, is that enough to keep us up? Probably need another striker to at least match that, plus some goals from midfield i'd have thought.

ETA - I think Erwin has been brought in as a battering ram to allow somebody else to flourish. Perhaps Dennis will add the goals we need as you say

He's going to fall on his own sword for standing by his own signings , most of which aren't up to it.

And unfortunately for him he was intent on shipping out everyone and anyone who he hasn't brought in so there isn't anyone else to turn to...

Did JG sign them? Did Gus? Did Gus agree or just scout them? Are they really that bad after all or are they just being mismanaged?

All questions that should be answered to the fans who have forked out to support the club through difficult circumstances.

Why.  We are what we are and always have been.  Anybody that was anyone with money to pump into a team, deserted the town a long time ago.

Read the rest of my post... if I wanted trophy laiden seasons and superstar teams I would have supported the Old Firm - they are just 5 mins down the road at the end of the day.

There would have been many steps the club could have taken to soften the blow of the age-old tale of a St Mirren player going to a bigger club - we are all used to this by now. Many fans are now fed up with the club's actions.

There is absolutely no need or benefit to the statement we released.

We should be gracious and concentrate on bringing through the next academy graduate captain, and short term look at a competent replacement to prevent what looks like a real danger of relegation.

  14. I am embarrassed to be a St Mirren fan at this moment in time.

I can 'reluctantly accept' missplaced obnoxious statements masked as ambition every July; surrendering meekly every week on the park and crawling to safety every year; shambolic departures of managers every 18 months on less than amicable terms; that we are not a massive club and our good players will eventually go onto bigger clubs, usually for a fraction of the fee other clubs get; that clubs the same size or lesser than us get their moment in the sun whilst we are perpetually in an underachieving state...

What I struggle to accept from the club, which is more down to a morality thing - near silence to the paying, loyal supporters; lack of professional behaviour as an institution year in year out; and complete lack of backbone or ambition.

Million pound players? Few and far between, I'm afraid. Even though our academy does a good job, we don't see many who come anywhere near that figure.

McGinn & McLean both valued at that amount. Morgan and Magennis also both have potential to go for that kind of figure in the future.
