Saw Steve Earle a coupla years back when he was doing an acoustic tour. Great performer. More consistent these days since he quit booze and drugs.

A Steve Earle album I'd recommend is Train a Comin', mainly acoustic, from '94. Townes Van Zandt would also be worth a listen to if you like Earle

Ian McEwen's central character in Saturday calls,

"Steve Earle, the thinking man's Bruce Springsteen".

He likes him a lot.

I'm currently listening to Desert Island Discs: John Sutherland.

So I'm enjoying some of his choice of music:

1. Flamingo

Performer Earl Bostic

2. The Foggy, Foggy Dew

Performer Burl Ives

3. Speed the Plough

Performer The Regimental Band of the Coldstream Guards

4. The Way You Look Tonight

Performer Dave Brubeck

5. The Piano has been Drinking (Not Me)

Performer Tom Waits

6. Hotel California

Performer The Eagles

7. Tenderly

Performer Oscar Peterson

8. Take Me Out

Performer Franz Ferdinand

To take on his Desert Island he will have...

Record: The Piano has been Drinking (not me)

Book: Vanity Fair by William Makepeace Thackeray

Luxury: I pod.
