Thorizaar
1: Countdown, first show on and still remember coming in from school to see it on launch day. Me too, and remember it was quite an exciting event. Slightly different from these days when you get new channels called Dave showing endless repeats appearing that are greeted with a shrug of the shoulders and a sigh! groo-ver
There was a big blonde that did the letters before Carol Vorderman, she always had a big split oan her skirt right up tae her oxter 'The original hostesses were Kathy Hytner and Beverley Isherwood, who used to select the letters and numbers cards respectively. Either Linda Barrett or Carol Vorderman was wheeled on twice a show (they did alternate programmes) to check the calculations for the numbers game. Carol Vorderman now does all these jobs.' scottd
Red Triangle films usually directed by Jean Luc Godard were a quality mainstay of C4's early output. When you see that sort of stuff these days you realise how tame it all was, but for a 13 year old it was all very exciting.
