Much to agree with there. The ones I'd alter:-

Never saw Herriot or Conaghan and only have vague memories of Hunter. I'd say Ludo should be there. And for midfielders, replace Stickroth with Shuggie. Dunno the Gus bloke, though.

That's who he is thinking of.

Who did we sign him from?

1. Hugh McLaughlin - made Aber look like an angel , 2 straight reds in quick succession for assaults on Willie Henderson and Jinky Johnstone! :P

2. Hugh Gilshan - scorer of the first 3 St Mirren goals witnessed by me , v Dundee U , Hearts and Rangers ! :)

3. Peter Kane - Natural finisher , something we've not had many of down the years , and still don't !

4. Billy Abercromby

5.Doug Somner

Great memories, Billy. Checked your profile and as I suspected from those choices, you're just 2 years older than me. I'd also mention from that era Connell, Pinkerton,Hamilton, Adamson (the three baldy magicians), and of course Jim Blair (no relation).

Interesting to go back and look at this list. Quite a few very good players on this.No Billy Stark. No Frank McGarvey , no Abercrombie and no (far too early, John McGinn)

Ian Scanlon. Best goal I have seen scored by a Saint’s player. Via Celtic.

Was at that game- came from 2 down to win 4-2

If I remember it correctly CB , yes. Scanlon was just inside our half in front of the North Bank . He hit an unstoppable shot over ( I think it would have been Paddy Bonar) and into the net.
