Floodlit Photos - Wednesday 28th At Ghr

Recommended Posts

Hmmm..

See if you look at the 'south and main' pic on P1. The 'track' around the pitch used to be red blaes, and has been tidied up with trendy astroturf. Looking at that pic, even though Tommy Docherty still has to line the pitch again, I wonder if we'll see any players take the ball right off the sidelines, thinking there's still a bit of pitch to their left or right?

Nah...

Apparently, Setanta are not getting their box in the Main Stand as its been turned into a private hospitality room <_<

It's being used for Alex Salmond and guests, it's not their box anyway it is the clubs box

Why would yoo be angry about that?

its a good thing, I remember at some point one of the club officials said it was a great wee space and he would like to stop it from becoming a Setanta Room so that it could be used for better things.

I think its great that we aren't letting setanta use the space in the main stand when we could put it to better use which would gain money for the club.

I don't agree with giving Salmond and his pals the use of it as a private hospitality room though. The man is a twat and shouldn't be let anywhere near our wonderful new stadium.

Purely for research purposes - I'm sad to report that the ladies lavvies in the Main Stand need some work to tidy them up before Saturday. Shocking....I flushed and flushed, but it just wouldn't budge.

pictureflash2bz.gif Aye, poz. A likely story... :D

Looks like Airdrie

:thumbs2 Correct. Airdrie does indeed look like a toilet.

Like it or not, these occasions always have more than enough free-loading bozzers. So, why not invite the top bozzer?

Who else in the country would bring as much publicity to the opening of St Mirren Park?

Davie Hay ???

Saw the lights on tonight on my way home from work. Is it just me or do the lights not look that bright from a distance, ie glowing in the sky, but seem to give a fantastic light at pitch level?

Also, it will be interesting to see how the pitch performs and stands up to heavy rain.

Interesting times.

Cuts down on light pollution, plus there is an airport in Paisley, I believe.

Nope not just you. I could see the Love St floodlights from my kitchen window and they were slightly blinding, even from that distance. But the new floodlights (differently positioned so i can see all 4...looks very strange), are a sort of green tinge and certainly aren't as bright as the love st ones from a distance. This surprised me as someone told me they were 1 and a half times the lux of the LS ones.

The main reason the new lights don't look as bright from outside is that they are not technically floodlights, but they are actually banks of spotlights. This means focused beams and, as mentioned , less light pollution.

I used to be able to see the floodlights from my house about a mile and a half away in an elevated part (i.e.up a hill) of Meiklegriggs/Corsebar.I wondered if I could see the new ground's too. However, even though there's the big Woodside crematorium hill in the way I thought I'd be able to see their glare in the sky.

Howver, coincidentally, as I was reading the latest B&W magazine in the cludgie, there was an article by GLS stating that the new floodlights, being state of the art and despite being much brighter than the ones at the old ground, would emit no upward glare at all, as all the light was focussed onto the pitch.
