It's usually kicked off by agents trying to pray on the nerves of desperate managers hoping a swift purchase will save their job/promotion chances/stave off relegation etc... They've changed managers now but if anything Malky MacKay would be even more likely to raid the Scottish market, during his Watford days he plucked the likes of McGinn and Cowie from the SPL.
