Shankland would come back if we offered enough. Seems we’re content to be 10th after all . Always thought he silly top six chat was just that

Content? I'd be delighted to finish 10th in our first season back. Fergie only just kept us up after promotion.

It's a big step up.  10th would be OK.  Up to 7th might be possible.  Recruitment isn't over yet so difficult to judge.

Still think it will take 3 transfer windows to be able to judge.

I think some of us are forgetting our place in the pecking order.

Talk of signing players like Stewart and Allan is pie in the sky if they're on the level wages that have been quoted.

Even with the "McGinn fund" the likes of Kilmarnock will always outbid us and are , whether we like it or not, a more attractive option.

I won't even go into the lunacy of a £250K bid for any player.

Maybe if we went in for Scott Allan at the close of the window and nobody else wanted him, the green bigots might give us a cut price loan as they try to offload him. Even then, only the fact that he likes working with Stubbs, would even allow us a sniff of a chance.

I'm afraid that this is the level we're at.

We don't have 3 transfer windows.

FTOF. I get the argument that Killie finished top 6 but don't get the financial argument. I could be wrong but they are still carrying debt.

Next summer we might be recruiting for the First Division. :(

True pod but I think it will take 3 to move us to challenge for the top 6. January will be key (I think we might keep some money aside for that ) so I take your point.

They were debt free at the end of May 2017 so any debt they might have will be for the season to May 2018 which was a good season for them. They won't publish their accounts till the end of the year so I think it's safe to assume that Billy Bowie has got them on a better footing. There is money in shifting shite after all!

Well yes , but I'd rather pay my monthly Smisa for no immediate return , than purchase an ST . My choice , so there ! :byebye

Oh absolutely. But then you should have the decency to shut the f**k up about our struggle to sign better and by extension more expensive players.

Do you really need this explained to you?

Can I ask how jj seems to know so much ? Who is going to buy shankland? Is Stubbs actually getting any additional cash cos it doesn’t look like it. Makes all the panicking over the McGinn money seem utterly pointless now. Glad we got the cash and well done to the old board. Sad that the other lads all left for a pittance tho considering their talent.

I am going to guess he is related to one of the players or someone at the club who likes to blab.

We signed Thommo , Teale and Isma , amongst others , when I wasn’t an ST holder either. The club is more cash rich than it was then. It’s nothing to do with me , or anyone else , not buying an ST , it’s more to do with the unwillingness of the current BOD to part with their dosh . Which , of course , is a matter of choice for them too.

That interview was just shambolic. "At the moment I've got what I've got". There are many things he may have, unfortunately managerial ability doesn't appear to be one of them.

That seems like he wants Kenny in and Cammy Smith will be free to go

Indeed, which is a P45 move in itself, never mind all the other things that have gone wrong.

I work in social work so I'm used to shambolic management, I think Stubbs must have been on the same training course as some of my bosses.

Stubbs was inconclusive when asked whether Smith was free to leave.

He said: “I don’t know, no. At the moment, no. You know what football is like, anything can change. But as far as I am standing here now, what I have got is what I have got.

“If something happens over the weekend or next week and we feel as if it’s for the benefit of the football club and makes us stronger, then it might be something that we look at.”

This is really concerning. Considering letting Smith go seems absolutely bonkers with the squad we have at the moment.
I’ve completely lost faith in Stubbs now. The thought of what state the players heads are in is a real worry. I know it’s only rumours, but you wouldn’t be surprised if he has completely lost the changing room.
