Ok, I have now prioritised trying to find out who the mystery striker is over finishing a report at work, and can exclusively reveal he doesn't exist. There is no striker who scored the winner in either a championship or league 1 play off final in England, since 2008, with international experience and who is also a free agent and isn't retired. So, either someone is telling porkies or the internet is broken.

He scored the winner that got his team promoted but it was automatic promotion, not a play-off final.

That is indeed bad news about Magennis and McGinn. Without them, our midfield won't be nearly as strong. Hope the injury to McGinn isn't serious.

Explains McGinnis under par performance why a good few would doubt him is typical. Very worrying with Kyle out for a couple of month. Fingers crossed McGinn is not the same.

Without tip-toeing round about things because he's last season's hero  , McGinn has been poor all season , there's no getting away from it.  McGinn on one leg should be able to handle  Tom f**kin' Taiwo but he couldn't live with him , as Accies tore gaping holes in our midfield. Obviously Kyle's a big miss , but if we can get a settled midfield without the two of them McGinn might struggle to get back in. Is McShane close ? Otherwise , Flynn , Willock , Edwards and Smith , with   A.N.Other ?   and Mullen further forward !

Agreed on McGinn - the whole team has been poor all season Nd he is no exception. Possible opportunity for a few guys to stake a claim for a place.

In fairness, most of the games were under Stubbs, so that has to be factored in as a mitigating circumstance.

We then had the Celtic perfomance which was very encouraging and in which all played their part. Saturday was hellish, but it is possible Stephen was already carrying his injury and the bloody plastic pitch wouldn't have helped. I think a good few players were holding back on Saturday. I'm not suggesting that is acceptable, but it was certainly apparent given that we were second to every ball.

The injuries to both Magennis and McGinn are nightmarish if the latter also proves to be of significant duration. No two ways about that.

McShane has been injured and only resumed training yesterday.

Aye but it was Stubbs fault, he was carrying an injury, etc......................seems to be untouchable to some, like Ross was at times.

Injuries are one reason why we need to have a decent sized squad.  Some felt that we had a glut of midfielders.  A testing time for all but also an opportunity for some to step up and show what they can do and whether or not they have the ability.

If that was the case we certainly wouldn't be "gluten" free.
