bluto
I've not had it (thankfully...) and the process for getting rid of it looks like it's either expensive or long-winded. I've had a google and look at several ways of doing the removal and the following link seems to me to be a straightforward (though LONG ) process that will do the job. You need to print out the instructions before starting or have your own Pc nearby to follow the steps... http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-security-master-av Good luck.... Not sure if this is what you have already done, but you could try system restore. Press the F5 key repeatedly when you switch your comp on, from the choices on screen, choose safe mode startup, follow the on screen messages, then choose a system restore point.. eg two weeks earlier , when the system was last known good. By starting in safe mode you give the comp the chance to kick in & work while the rogue program is frozen out.

St. Sid
Once it is fixed it would be a good idea to ban bebo, facebook et al. They are virus-tastic and will eventually trash your virtual world.

ulster-saint
I hate those fake AV/Malware programmes. They ruined my life for 3 days. After manual removal cause I was skint and didn't want to do a system restore I actually made my laptop worse by deleting the wrong directory entries. My solution: Hit it with a hammer. Hendo
I hate those fake AV/Malware programmes. They ruined my life for 3 days. After manual removal cause I was skint and didn't want to do a system restore I actually made my laptop worse by deleting the wrong directory entries. My solution: Hit it with a hammer. I think I have something similar from whats described, though it not from Securty Master but Defence Center. It also has the unnerving habit of placing three icons on your desktop for porn sites, at various points with no warning, meaning I had to ban my stepdaughters from the computer tonight in case they thought their stepdad had been looking at dodgy stuff (which I've not, but given their mum left me four months ago, it might be understandable if i had). Anyways, I've tried to download the suggested removal thing suggested earlier, with no luck. Help!
Hendo
Think i've finally got rid of it, if you go into "safe mode with networking" when u switch on, then go to http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/malwarebytes/mbam-setup.exe Didn't take that long to work either. Now been online 10 minutes and not one bogus message has come up, or any links to dodgy porn sites!
