maybe thats it.....one of his family is a horse which will run the bar

We can turn the table on an old joke and ask it "why the long face".

Quite like Gruffalo's post too. Like Stu-Dick I think the conclusion is way off the mark, but as Gruff is respecting the desire of fans that do want to invest in the CIC we should respect his desire not to join at the moment. There will be plenty of fans that will not invest. As I said early on in this we ned to think about ways to ensure we capture their views on the club when the CIC gets going. That will ensure the membership grows rather than stagnates.

I think the debate has been done to death. It looks like the CIC is going to progress all being well. The next phase is to prove through actions rather than words the value of the CIC.

Great post Gruffalo, but I think you're wrong about this bit. I think there is every chance that 10000hours could and would survive without St Mirren FC and it's fans. It could just move on to another project. There are already many examples of CIC's and SEN's that have been operating successfully right across Scotland. Some are running swimming pools, or sports centres. Some are running bike clubs. And ofcourse we all know about Edinburgh Spartans, Stenhousmuir and Clyde and where they are at too. Indeed 10000hours and their like would be welcomed by all manner of community groups who are looking to become less reliant on grants and public sector handouts and to start generating their own income.

If St Mirren miss out I think it's very much their loss. There is massive potential here but if the fans are struggling to see it as more than just a pub then I've got serious doubts the potential will ever be realised. Remember the candidates for election to the respective boards are going to be answerable to Individial Membership, many of whom simply won't / can't see the bigger picture.

Another great post...Jesus whats happening on here! And now Stuart i will highlight my biggest concern regarding the cic. An opportunity like this dosn't come along very often and as a saints fan salavaiting from the mouth i am 100% convinced the deal is done. People like Richard (who i am accused of being in disguise) don't chap your club door very often. When they do you have to sit up and listen and sieze the moment or forever live in regret. The problem i have is he has indicated he will leave St Mirren. He dressed this up a bit by saying we will all eventualy hate him (kinnda like a Tony Blair thing) and as 10000hrs is a concept for a wide range of benifits in any community he will be busy elsewhere. I happen to think without someone of his standing and abilities we will struggle to find another to replace him with no salary

Maybe so Vambo but one way or another every day there seems to be a new post about the f**king bar as though thats what the whole thing is about.

You are right about elections though - and look at the state of the people we get running the country as a result....

If you didn't slabber a lot of shite self-promoting shite, if you didn't have a believe that everyone else in the planet was stoopit, if you didn't storm off in the huff when it turns out that you are in fact stoopiter than most of the planet you might be less of a Dick-Stu. :P

Hello Sid (waves to stoopiter)

Just wait till I cash in on all that self promotion. You won't be able to resist a t-shirt with my face on it

I thought you had already made your millions on some St Mirren related mobile phone scam. :o

Scam? Oh you mean the text messaging service that Gilmour didn't like and knocked back, only to then do a complete about turn and launch one of his own in 2008 - 10 years after I proposed it, and 5 years after the launch of 3g networks in the UK had made it obsolete?

I did alright from that wee part time business. It paid off my mortgage and got me debt free. My self promotion obviously worked B)

I don't know much about it other than you get very defensive every time it is mentioned. :) I missed your meltdown and selp-imposed sulk from St Mirren. I have seen you reduced to a posting wreck on P&B at the mere mention of it though. :P

Ach nonsense. Far from being defensive I've been open and honest about the whole text messaging business proposal and that meeting with Gilmour and McAusland to anyone who has ever asked. And while no St Mirren fan ever seems to believe it, getting a grilling over who my sources were over a post on Saints Online that Gilmour thought was too close to the truth, being threatened with a lawsuit for a post I didn't make, and having my business plan taken and given to someone else - who subsequently phoned me to tell me what had happened and to ask for my help - didn't cause me to withdraw my support of St Mirren. Indeed a year and a half later I was back at the club going over the same text messaging proposal with Campbell Kennedy, Kenny Pointon and Norrie Jamieson having already sold my business - supposidly helping them set up a St Mirren text messaging service that would have saw me make £0.00 from the deal.

There was no meltdown, I simply decided that when Gilmour tried to oust Tom Hendrie by sticking him on garden leave and tried every underhand trick in the book to get out of paying him compensation for his contact - that St Mirren weren't a club I could support anymore. And I'm 100% certain you were on Saints Online at the time and the reason you think you missed it was because it was hardly a major incident.

or to put it another way......SULK!

Intersting point about the business plan, and yet some dafties are demanding that the CIC publishes their's on the Internet. :)

Tom Hendrie's gardening leave was great fun on the Internet. It got me and Bill Lees banned from the fishal site.

It was a silly time all in. There was the web wars, all sorts of underhand going ons as two parties battled for control of the official website, anonymous posts all over Saints Online, Tom Hendrie's more corners than ICT interview, one woman's mission to get him sacked, and then a report on the official website proudly proclaiming that the St Mirren board had consulted with the spotty VL geeks with their allergy to playing sport who used the official forum when deciding whether to sack or keep Tom Hendrie as manager. Then there was the appointment of that waste of space that was John Coughlin. Gilmour claiming he was now the chief club scout followed by a massively over-hyped signing of Mark Crilly and the cringe worthy aftermath as John Coughlin used the official forum to try and justify his crap tactics, and god awful signings.

I wonder if the same ego's will resurface in the CiC.

Is it fair to say that you don't support St Mirren because of moralistic reasons?

That would suggest I've got morals

Nah I just viewed it like I would any other consumer product. If I want to buy a telly but Comet have pissed me off - there's plenty of other places where I can go to buy my telly. Similarly if I want to watch football there were plenty of other football clubs that could give me my fix.

fair enough......would you ever consider coming back to saints though?

Would we want him. First thing that he doesn't like he will be spouting bile about the club all over the Internet again. :P

Ah Sid. The classic St Mirren supporter line. When an opinion doesn't match your own it becomes bile. When 10000hours does finally take over the day to day running of the club I hope those elected learn how to cope with critical opinion in a far more mature manner.

Nothing classic about it Stu, nor is it a reaction to anything you have posted. You yourself take some pride in your anti-St Mirren posts over on P&B. The anti-St Mirren posts from what I have seen from yourself are based on a personal fall out. All I am saying is that you have a history of turning on the club, St Mirren and its supporters when something doesn't suit you. Will the CIC be any different? Perhaps, we will see. :)

I hope you have grown up; however the evidence so far appears to be that years of Gollum-like behaviour have reinforced your prediliction for narcissitic personality disorder self-destruction to the point were you actually seek out reasons to breech scouring the news for reason after reason to attack a club you once supported and once even ran a Saints supporters web site. You say you support the CIC, but what happens when your vision for the CIC doesn't come to fruition.......toys out the pram, much vitriol about the CIC, the people involved and eons of petty sniping over on P&B.

The question is Stu, with your dubious personality and ultra-shady history of anti-St Mirren agenda.......should you be trusted? :P

When did I ever run a St Mirren supporters website? That's a new one on me. I left all that shite to Tom Williamson and Kenny Pointon. I did eventually run two Football news websites (The Penalty Box and Bizibee) which ran side by side with the Text Messaging business but that wasn't in any way St Mirren related. Maybe where you are getting confused is I agreed to write a couple of opinion based articles for - I think it was a Rivals website - ran by Ally Gilbert? and Stu Gillespie.

Should I be trusted? Why would I want to convince you or anyone else either way. Sid, I've no intention of becoming a fan of anyone. However to pick you up on one last point, if this all goes through I'll be an Individual Member just the same as you. If I think it's going wrong I'll be voicing my opinion loudly and forcefully as I always do.

Long time ago....I barely remember it, just remember the Lawstud alias...although I think you did do an article from memory. A vague memory for me - tend to remember the banter with the dung fans more than anything. The Rivals ring a bell now. :) More of a life defining moment for you I think. :P

Nothing wrong with fair and reasoned opinion......so no you shouldn't be trusted, wouldn't even have you on the CIC mailing list. :P

How many completed DD's have been returned?

Will take over be completes for start of season?

If not will the cic be going all out in the home games to drum up more interest from the fans via hand outs etc?

I have a few friends who are ardent saints fans but haven't done anything with regards to the cic so there is def scope for getting these guys signed up to this. I am sure many posters on here also have similar stories to tell.

Been 3 weeks since I last heard any kind of update or looked on this thread as too many petty squabbles to bother reading through it all.
