What a rare sight

I have never seen that street before without cars

Usually full

I agree.  Was surprised myself of the view available last Wednesday.

the Barr Place surface to the left of the pic has badly deteriorated.

You can see the setts of Barr Street from which the world-renowned “Taury baws”  were excavated...

Took me a while to work out this one...

The yellow line is Greenhill Road, the pale blue is Clark St, red is the railway to Gourock and the dark blue is the Dummy Railway,

Any idea who's football park that is. Judging by the prefabs, I'd say this might still be in the 1940's

Tremendous clip of tramcars in the 50s, a large part of which focuses on Paisley and renfrew.

Great watch...…………………. (if you liked trams that is!).

1.       I remember that it was never a good idea to get your bike tyres stuck in the tram lines - you always fell off

2.      When you got to your destination the driver / conductor always came through the gf and 1st floor and altered the backs of the seats so that you faced in the direction of travel.

3.      What happened when there was thick snow on the ground, did they not run?

4       What happened in the pea-soupers did they just crawl along at 2 mph?

The snaw didnae matter and, cos it was on fixed tracks, fog was also minimally problematic.
IIRC....

Did they not stock toys and airfix kits and that sort of stuff.

Among the toys I got from there was Arnold Palmer ProShot Golf and an Action Man Argyll and Sutherland Highlander outfit.

We were quite poor in those days but I do remember having loads of fun with the Action Man Deserter figure

Ah Arnold Palmer proshot golf I remember it well, with the felt putting green and the tiny clubs attached to the shank then my Johnny seven gun afterwards. Boom.

Fantastic video from 1991, fast forward to around 6:15 onwards to see what the area around the stadium used to be like.

There was a similar video going around showing Gallowhill,

Also one around the West End?
