Seeing the County Square pictures made me think of the big map inside the glass case that used to be against the wall at the station end of the Post Office.

You pressed buttons along the bottom for the place you were looking for, and it would light up your destination on the map.

Did that thing really exist, or was it a dream I had one night?

Good shout,I'd totally forgotten about that.

I can only recall one occasion when I went through that main entrance...as a kid who lived in Sir Michael Pl, every year we would go up to the big hooses in Castlehead and steal apples from their gardens - apples which, incidentally, would fall from the trees and left to rot.  Having stuffed our jouks with them we would make our way back home with the route taking us along the wall of the manse of the Castlehead Church.  All of a sudden the minister jumped out from behind a bush and grabbed me.  He took me in his car to the police station which was in the county buildings above.  The man of God told the polis what I had done and he left me there.  Sometime later the officer said to me, 'Away you go and don't do it again'.

I wonder what the subject of his sermon  would have been on the following Sunday - 'If you sin forget about forgiveness just get the f**kin' polis'.

Did you no get him done for kidnapping. :whistle

To put a date on it, my earliest memory of that map was  watching Dundee United fans using it to find Love Street before the cup tie where Fitzy scored the winner and McAvennie fractured his skull, which would have been about March 1982.

In my defence, I can't remember any of the other maps mentioned, and my only memories of County Square are in colour, not black and white.

Was stopped at the lights earlier and couldn't fathom out what/where the building above the wheel alignment sign was.

Without googling anyone want to guess?Screenshot_20190506-212145.thumb.jpeg.24fe89c6c95e8332afb39d4ec265eea5.jpeg
Well I know there's a pend which takes you into a wee car park at the back of Farmfoods but it looks a bit further along than that, perhaps the back of the Chamber of Commerce building.

I think there was one near the cross, which may have been moved to one of the above locations

Looks like part of the old BK building, but from a deceiving angle.  between forbes place and the old training centre, I don't really think there are many other buildings there

Not many St. Mirren supporters can claim being in both Paisley clinks in two different millennia.
