Drew Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) This email has just popped into my inbox. It makes interesting reading, not least this passage: There is no doubt that, with the club stating that there is no longer the threat of administration, and the downgrading of the hurricane warning from catastrophe to stormy waters there has, thankfully, not been the urgent need for funds that we had all feared Now, I've been away for a week, so might have missed this statement/confirmation. Those of us who were highly sceptical about the armageddon claims might not be hugely surprised by this, but it would be helpful to have had something formal from the club given the fund-raising initiatives that have been put in place, and broader concerns surrounding the future of the club. Perhaps I've missed something while on holiday? Edited July 23, 2012 by Drew Quote
civilsaint Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 Is this for real Drew? If it is, the club's PR has reached a new low this summer. While we're at it, still no retraction of the ridiculous statements blaming the SFL clubs for the current mess. Quote
pozbaird Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 I haven't seen such an announcement anywhere either Drew - first I knew was when I received the same 10000hours e-mail. If it is true, then it is obviously positive news, but your guess is as good as mine as to where and when the club announced that armageddon had been averted. Quote

Drew Posted July 23, 2012 Author Report Posted July 23, 2012 (edited) Can someone paste the full email please? 10000 hours update July 23rd The events of the last week have clarified a lot in football terms for the coming season, however, we are still unaware of the position of all the SPL sponsors. We would hope that by the end of this week we will have had clarification of the amount of money the club will receive this season and as a result of having a clear financial picture we will be able to re -enter negotiations with the selling consortium. As per our previous e-mail we can confirm that all direct debits have been re set to start on August 31st. We will contact all 87 and 1877 members individually once we know when the deal will conclude. We would like to thank all those who have contributed to the Nero Blanco fund. To date we have raised a substantial amount. There is no doubt that, with the club stating that there is no longer the threat of administration, and the downgrading of the hurricane warning from catastrophe to stormy waters there has, thankfully, not been the urgent need for funds that we had all feared. The money raised will remain in place in case it is needed but we will poll all those who have contributed before distributing it. Let's all get behind the team and make our first game of the new season a sell out! Thank you for your continued support. The 10000Hours Team Edited July 23, 2012 by Drew Quote
Mearns Saint Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 What the f**k is going on? There has been no comments at all from the club saying that we have avoided financial meltdown. Our PR guy has to go, piss poor! Quote

reborn saint Posted July 23, 2012 Report Posted July 23, 2012 Strange the Hurricane (armaggedon) is now a slight breeze with a chance of some showers. Doncaster and Regan did everything in their power to tell us and the media they would. 10000 hrs seem to be the messenger which is not good enough!.....SG and the BOD...You own the club!....You speak until you sell!.......(rotten smell!). St. Sid Posted July 24, 2012 Report Posted July 24, 2012 Shower of jokers....its the behaviour you would expect of a david murray board, not a board trying to front the takeover of a community club. Are St Mirren Board meetings now driven by REA and SG carving up scheme after scheme to try and ramp up supporters investment into the club for zero return. I would give SG the benefit of the doubt for previous service to the club. Time for the troublemaking 10000 hrs mob to shut up shop (a poorly stocked one) and head for them thar hills before The Duke starts clearing house.....The magnificent seven were a shower of preening fannies. I sat in the SMFC boardroom a few weeks back, and it wasn't Richard Atkinson who was forecasting financial catastrophe if the newco weren't in the 1st Division. You're talking bollocks now John, and you know that fine well. The PDE did carry a story a good while back in which someone from 10000Hours apparently referred to a financial apocalypse, and I was no more impressed with that than I have been with the club making such utterences, but you are twisting this beyond any meaningful interpretation due to your apparent desperation to put the boot into 10000Hours at any and every opportunity. Sunny Saint Posted July 24, 2012 Report Posted July 24, 2012 The board of directors are the ones who still own our club and should be telling us fans if administration is now no longer a possibility. As usual though, the paying punters are kept in the dark and the last ones to find out. We're heading into a new season in less than a fortnight - what else could get the fans feeling positive again than revealing that we are no longer facing the kind of financial meltdown first being predicted? That is, of course, if 10000 Hours have got the statement correct. Quote

Guest somner9 Posted July 24, 2012 Report Posted July 24, 2012 (edited) Come on, Sid. SG and the other SPL chairmen, aided and abetted by the clowns in charge of Scottish Football, were the ones promising Armageddon. The 10000hrs people may well have rode in on the back of this as an opportunity to increase subscriptions from fans desperate to save the club, but they didn't start the bollox. Eh... 10000 hours (who make up the Bod of smfc) said this which is riddled with conflicts of interest and the killer line that 83.5% of 10000 members would be willing to give their monthly subs to the BoD!: The current uncertainty within Scottish Football surrounding central sponsorship money has put St.Mirren Football Club at risk of having to make severe cost cuts across the whole football club in the immediate future. As announced by the Board last week, the Club could face a revenue drop in the coming season forecast to be in the region of as much as £400k to £600k should the SFL member clubs vote only to allow the Newco Rangers to enter the league hierarchy in the bottom tier. The SFL clubs will meet this Friday to vote on the issue. At worst the board of directors have told the fans and shareholders of the club that it could be faced with offloading star players, making forced redundancies or even facing administration if costs cannot be cut sufficiently to meet with reduced income from central sponsorships. This level of uncertainty has also postponed our own planned purchase of the majority shareholding of the football club. We are unable at present to proceed with our offer but similarly we do not want to stand idly by and watch the football club we love struggle to meet it's obligations, or lose key staff, due entirely to a crisis that was not of it's own making. The main way fans can help is to purchase a season ticket for the forthcoming season 2012-2013. If you have not already done so please consider doing that to support the club. We do know of course that many of our members have already renewed but still want to be seen to help the club in any way they can. In a recent poll 83.5% of our signed up members said they would be in favour of using the planned 10000Hours direct debit subscriptions, due to begin on 31st July 2012, to support the football club if the board asked for that help. We, and the club, greatly appreciate that offer, however we also appreciate that there are many individuals who support the club who do not wish to take up a monthly subscription and we are also mindful of the fact that in a competitive bidding situation there is no guarantee that 10000Hours will emerge as the successful bidder for the majority shareholding. In short we do not want to draw down the original funds unless they are to be expressly used for the purpose for which they were pledged. With £11,500 of monthly subscriptions currently in our secure payments system we have proven that as an organisation with a committed membership now numbering over 1,000 individuals we have the ability, the means and technology to bring money into the organisation. With all of the above in mind we have decided to launch the following fundraising plan, under the project banner of NERO BLANCO; Existing 10000Hours monthly direct debits will NOT be drawn down on 31st July We have asked GoCardless to postpone these until 31st August by which time we should be able to confirm our offer. Using Euro 2012 influences our project will be called NERO (Italian for Black) BLANCO (Spanish for White) NERO BLANCO is a separate fundraising initiative aimed at offering assistance to the football club should it be required Any St.Mirren fan, regardless of whether they are a 10000Hours member or not can securely deposit single payments into the fund Funds are all securely taken and processed on our behalf by GoCardless GoCardless take a 1% handling fee from us for this service eg donate £10 and the fund gets £9.90 Payments are made via single direct debit, there is no monthly commitment Users may also donate directly from their bank account using standard online banking (sort code and account number are shown at the foot of this page) The fund raised will be held by 10000Hours pending the club asking for help If the Club asks for financial help 10000Hours will offer the NERO BLANCO fund to them We are conscious that St Mirren Football Club and the selling consortium are two very different entities and that any money raised would be going to the football club. However we expect the selling consortium to take cognisance of any funds that are given to the football club. If 10000Hours is not successful in purchasing the clubs shares and is dissolved it would be our intention to pass the funds to SMiSA but this will be put to a straight majority vote by those who contribute to the fund. The reasoning behind this being that if the club is not sold to the fans (via 10000Hours) then it will be more important than ever that there is a strong independent supporters association around to represent the fans. If any vote on funds allocation is required it will be on a one vote per individual basis and will be carried out online via a secure poll We see this as an opportunity for St.Mirren fans to work together for the benefit of the club and we are in discussions with SMiSA as how best to coordinate both this and any additional fundraising exercises. We will keep a regular total of funds raised into NERO BLANCO on this webpage. How to donate - Option 1 - Secure Single Direct Debit You can donate now online, securely and easily, direct from your bank account into the fund by clicking any of the following links depending on the amount you wish to donate. Note that these are ONE OFF payments. Edited July 24, 2012 by somner9 Quote

As announced by the Board last week, the Club could face a revenue drop in the coming season forecast to be in the region of.... At worst the board of directors have told the fans and shareholders of the club that it could be faced with.... In short we do not want to draw down the original funds unless they are to be expressly used for the purpose for which they were pledged [this somewhat undermines your claim - "the killer line that 83.5% of 10000 members would be willing to give their monthly subs to the BoD!"] The 4th question was worded thus: In the event of SPL Commercial revenues reducing would you, working with the CIC and SMFC, be prepared to support the club through increased pledges and donations ? (Depending on the funding required this may delay the purchase for a year with your monthly contribution going towards helping the club directly while helping to maintain the integrity of Scottish Football) This only makes reference to increased pledges and donations, not the use of the DD mandate money already received. ETA: I'm not at all sure why I'm even bothering to respond to your drivel. It barely merits the effort. Edited July 24, 2012 by Drew Quote
