Whisky Drinkers

I like a fair few. Of the day to day ones, Talisker and Glengoyne are my favourites, but probably the nicest one I've tried was the one that won World's best whisky a couple of years ago. 21 year old Old Pulteney. Absolutely fantastic, though Shull would have a heart attack at the price of a nip of it.

I was given a Balvenie Doublewood recently for doing a homer (Towbar) 2 years after finishing it........

It was very nice. It's only in the last year I have been drinking the whisky straight.

I must confess,I am really liking it that way now.

Very atmospheric sitting in front of the log burner with a nice Malt and the smell of the burning wood.

Balvenie is class. As is Glenrothes.

You might be well advised to purchase one of said drams for me in the Bull inn.tongue.png

Funnily enough, I was going to suggest we should meet for a few beverages soon. I reckon you'll be lucky to get a Whyte and MacKay out of me, thoughwhistling.gif

I just had a nosey in the old drinks cabinet (ostensibly to see how much of my 15 year old Dalwhinnie remains), and tucked away at the back, found a boxed, unmolested bottle of Passport Scotch. WTF, thinks me, and where did that come from? Well, it comes from Paisley apparerently! Chivas make this little blended number, and it seems it is rated quite highly.

I still have no idea how I came by it. It was either the traditional bottle from my late father-in-law, or I won it in a raffle. Either way, It won't be tucked away for too much longer....

ETA: £30 a pop, no lessohmy.png

About a month ago the wife and I went out for a fantastic meal at the Artisan Restaurant in Wishaw which is a bit of a whisky specialist place with 909 different whisky's on offer. I asked the owner to recommend us a couple of drinks and he gave me a Bruichladdich Rum Cask which was absolutely superb and my wife thoroughly enjoyed her Macallan Amber Liqueur which I have to say was probably the tastiest after dinner alcoholic drink I have ever had. Sadly Macallan no longer make the Amber Liqueur but bottles are available and collectors have been buying them as an investment.

Got to agree with Herbie about the Old Pulteney. I only bought a bottle because it was voted the Number 1 in some competition but it is marvellous stuff.

However Lagavulin or Laphroaig are my favourites although I also like a Talisker. I am lucky that I have a wood burning stove and there is nothing nicer in the winter than a good movie, and a good malt and the smell of burning logs. Funny enough I rarely drink malts in the summer.
