Looking forward to this game.

I'm sure our players are also looking forward to playing against this standard of opposition.

It's what sport is all about.

And we'll be very sporting on here, if our Team get humped 6 nil. bangin.giflol.gif

NUFC upgraded the match yesterday from and Under 20 and fringe players friendly to a 1st team friendly !

Confirmed.

By Dan King - Newcastle United Digital Editor

A fifth-minute Shola Ameobi goal gave Newcastle a 1-0 friendly win at Bloomfield Road on Sunday and Alan Pardew was happy with the workout.

Every outfield player who travelled to Blackpool played a part and gained vital pre-season fitness, and the boss was particularly pleased with Ameobi's contribution.

As he spoke to nufcTV, Pardew also confirmed that he will send a "first team" to St. Mirren on Tuesday.

The Toon Army generally travel in very large numbers for most away games.

What are the chances they bring up 1000 plus fans for this one? Anyone heard anything about the numbers coming? Assume it will be pay on the gate for them.

It feels like it's been about a decade since we last had a decent home pre season fixture. The last big English team we had visit St Mirren Park was Villa or West Ham in the mid to late 80's.

Looking forward to seeing the Toon in town with Dummet and co in action. Maybe another player or two might be loaned to us for next season.;-)

I kinda fear the worst for this!

I wonder if Danny would be keen to play a full strength Newcastle teams days before a tough test at Inverness. He probably thought a Newcastle select would have been a better work out rather than the prospect of a heavy defeat at the hands of Newcastle's first team.

We played premiership Middlesbrough in a Friday night match, late 90s or early 2000s. Lost 3-2 if I recall.
