Between the ages of 4 and 14 I was, to be fair nowt much funnier than seeing these guys In their pedo shorts holding up tax paying vehicles on their oversized kids toys.

glad you didn't call it road tax - or else the thread might have been locked, i made that mistake on the other cycling boring thread, should have called it vehicle tax - even though it's for using the road

FFS. Political correctness is for wimps. lol.gif

It almost seems a shame to point out your spelling error.

You are missing the letter 'a' from "pedo" you tit.

I've noticed there are a few cycling enthusiasts on here. I'm thinking of getting into it myself and cycling to work instead of taking the bus etc. What shops would people recommend visiting and are there any models of bike that I should consider? Any advice however little would be gratefully received.

Dooley's Cycles in Paisley is the best bike shop in the West of Scotland by far. .

They will give you good advice or you can pm me if you want to know anything else. .

I'll maybe give them a visit.

I was in a shop at Xscape a couple of weeks ago and found the staff a bit "up themselves". They'd be good if you knew what you were talking about but not much use if you're a novice.

You should go elsewhere.

Cycling is inherently very simple.

Grab two wheels and start pedaling.

What could be more simple than that.

All the rest is bollox to make you pay more money than you need.

Mountain bike, road bike, trail bike, ladies bike............all bollox...a bike is a bike unless you are the sort of twat who thinks wearing lycra makes you Bradley Wiggins by rights.

Just grab a bike you like the look of and feels comfy and go for it.

That shop is Evans Cycles, which have stores up and down the land, it very much depends whom you talk to in there. Apart from when they have a sale the prices are a wee bit high. .

Can't be son both died in a house fire in 2003 along with daughter.

You didn't think that through, did you? But then again, that comes as no surprise to any of us, does it, given it involves you and thinking in the same sentence.
