lovestreet Posted December 15, 2015 Report Posted December 15, 2015 Miller will get the job with the proviso that he helps the Bod identify the correct candidate to first work alongside him then ultimately take over. Forget any big names .won't happen. The Greek guy has a very long name Quote

Dibbles old paperboy Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 Dumbarton's freefall? What freefall? Season 2013/4 Dumbarton 5th place 51 points after winning 15 drawing 6 and losing 15 GD +1 Season 2014/5 Dumbarton 8th place, 34 points, winning 9, drawing 7 and losing 20, GD-43 17 points difference and 44 goals worse off in 1 season, it would be like the kind of freefall we had when binning Danny Lennon for finishing 8th on 39 points and GD -19 and then one season later finishing 12th on 30 points and GD -36 (in fact the difference between St Mirren's final 2 SPL seasons is less marked then Dumbarton under Murray assisted by Jack Ross and then assisted by Spalding!) You should really check these things before posting them. Dumbarton finished 7th, not 8th in 14/15. They declined 2 places but were never seriously in relegation trouble and finished as the top part time team in Scotland for the second year running. It's worth pointing out that the New Club Hearts and Hibs all joined the Championship that year, so perhaps their decline from 5th to 7th was understandable? Quote

nedflanders123 Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 I was being tongue in cheek, referring to the prevailing narrative on here that Ross not Murray was responsible for Dumbarton's success. Understand. Woosh moment for me lol Quote
nedflanders123 Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 (edited) Dumbarton's freefall? What freefall? Oh the number of goals conceded of course which some of our friends in here have regularly brought up in their attacks on Murray. :-) Edited December 16, 2015 by nedflanders123 Quote
Lord Pityme Posted December 16, 2015 Report Posted December 16, 2015 Even with Ross present Dumbarton weren't exactly tight at the back either. 64 goals conceded in 2013-14, compensated for by the scoring of 65 goals all no doubt due to JR. Like I said will be interesting to see if either team can keep a clean sheet, both low on confidence, playing poorly... Can the auld Miller set a trap for Rossco? Will the young Lochinvar outflank the auld duffer? I would settle for a clean sheet, damage control till the "Special One" takes over the managerial reins. Quote
Drew Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 (edited) Calderwood just touted as first story on BBC Radio Shortbread sport bulletin just there. Seemingly Langfield has commented on the option, saying he would welcome it.... Edited December 17, 2015 by Drew Quote
Sonny Posted December 17, 2015 Report Posted December 17, 2015 I heard that interview last night and it seems like the BBC bending the reality (they have previous - would now trust the BBC as much as the Sun). Archie McPherson was asked who he thought would make the ideal appointment and he said TangoMan. Langfield was then asked if he could work with Calderwood considering they had previous. Langfield said he had no previous and could easily work with Calderwood. Was that what was reported? Quote

Flareybob Posted September 6, 2016 Author Report Posted September 6, 2016 I know for a fact Jack Ross is interested in coming back to St Mirren as manager. Alex Rae is 11/4 on for being sacked before Christmas according to the bookmakers online. If Alex was to leave then these then there are others who will put their name forward and these include John Hughes Justin Merritt Mixu Paatelainen David Flitcroft Quote

How much trust would you have in a manager who will abandon a club who is doing well? He is likely to do likewise with us. Anyway, we have a manager. Quote

The Original 59er Posted September 7, 2016 Report Posted September 7, 2016 It's a wonderful irony that the subject matter "Next St Mirren Manager" remains open and regularly re-visited consistently! Only 3 years and a month since the thread opened, any bets on how long it might run and to how many pages? We need stability in all aspects of the club. Board, Management, coaching and playing staff....... please give the present incumbents a chance!!! Quote
