pozbaird Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Answers and a clear vision as to where we are heading would allow us to regroup & move forward. I hope all the questions you list get answered before the end of October. A fair list of questions I would suggest. Not unreasonable by any standards. Quote
TediousTom Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Who are these people? They urnae' Smurrrnn fans, are they? What's in it for them? Where have they been hiding for three years? What about the club assets? What about the minority shareholders? What are their plans? Will they put us in debt? Are they going to spend money we don't have? What about the fan council and SMiSA? What about Danny Lennon? What about the stadium void? What about.... We need answers. What will happen to the price of pies? What will happen to our season ticket prices? Shull needs answers Quote

pozbaird Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Totally agree , an update would be good from the club as to the questions you list. I'm sure other folk could add a ton of equally pertinent questions to the list. Maybe, How are these new guys funding the purchase of the consortium's shares? Will they be 'absent landlords'? If so, who is their 'man on the ground' in Paisley on a day to day basis? What are their plans for existing club staff? Etc, etc.... Quote

rea Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 That is a very fair comment. The biggest issue which concerned me was the debt incurred in buying out the club which the club would have had to pay back. That and the fact that it all looked complicated as hell. A soon as I smell complication on something as simple as running a football club, my instinct is to be very cautious indeed. The Club did not have to Pay the debt back. The CIC with the 1000+ members did. No Debt or security, bond or floating charge existed or would have existed between the Club and the CIC creditors. If the CIC had failed to pay its way the only recourse any creditor would have had would have been to sell the shares that the CIC owned to someone else that wanted to own a the Club, but it would have had to do this in a responsible way not a fire sale due to the kinds of organisations involved. Although in the history of the lenders involved they have never foreclosed on any creditor and obviously would not have agreed to loan the money to the Fans Group had they not done their homework on the business model and the sustainabilty of it. rea Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Still have a problem with the valuations. Just imagine for a moment the consortium going on Dragons Den looking for anything over £1M for 51% of the club. How is this asking price justified when the club barely makes a profit and attendances are static at best? The initial £2M asking price values the club at over £4M, why? Can hear Duncan Bannatyne giving it “Amoot” after about two minutes. Clearly in the open market it is worth only what someone is willing to pay. The board is on record as saying they are tired, taken it as far as they can and run out of ideas. That was over three years ago, what must it be like now? I respect the board and the work done over the years but in the best interests of the club they should plan a handover to new people who do have the motivation to improve things. New blood and ideas needed, now. Remember the Club does not make a profit it makes an accounting loss of approx £300K each year Quote
pozbaird Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Do they have plans for any fan involvement in their new set up? Do they plan to install a new commercial director? Will they decide on keeping JD Sports or not? Is AWPs return as merchandise provider secure? Would they demand that Harkins is dropped to allow McGowan to flourish? Would they drop Goodwin or play him as a holding midfielder? Will Cheesy be renamed Swiss Cheesy? Will Kit Kats be replaced by Toblerone in catering outlets? Will Roger Federer be photographed wearing a Saints shirt? Questions, questions. Quote

Drew Posted September 17, 2013 Report Posted September 17, 2013 Last question may be closer to the truth than you think Now I'm intrigued.... If, as suspected, there is substance in this story, it will certainly give us all something else to think and talk about. Never a dull moment, indeed! Quote
