oscar
What a day for the cycling Tour of Britain to start! Absolutely p!$$!ng it down. Tour starts in Peebles and first stage finishes in Dumfrieshire. Should be a few good crashes out on the slippery Borders roads.
saintnextlifetime
The weather might neutralise the race to some extent -unlikely to be any lone breakaways in that pish with the strong winds . Narrow roads are more likely to be the culprit for causing spills onto the tarmac. . The rozzers have been known to make a bawz of the rolling road closures as well . . SelkirkSaint
Just watched them going through Selkirk. Surprised to see a breakaway already.
saintnextlifetime
Good picture of the missile there. . Just watched them going through Selkirk. Surprised to see a breakaway already. Drew
Cav and the rider in the white gilet to his left look to be the only two who aren't thoroughly miserable
SelkirkSaint
Pretty miserable for the spectators too. The Sky rider on the very right is Wiggins (I think). Couldn't get a clear shot of him, then realised Cavendish was coming up. At least I got a decent view this time. Was on the line for the first sprint section a couple of years ago and they all went past in two seconds.
Dirty Sanchez
Fair play to Darth Vader for turning out to lend his support on such a rotten day (bottom left).
oscar
Viviani wins the first stage. Cavendish got blocked in on the sprint to the finish. Good couple of crashes too. Second stage tomorrow, Carlisle to Kendal.
oscar
Ciolek wins stage 2 and is overall leader by 20 seconds. Sir Brad 30 seconds behind but it's a time trial tomorrow so should see Wiggins up there for a stage victory.

saintnextlifetime
seemed to have cured his fear of the wet roads as well! I think the wet roads thing , has more to do with the road-racing. They do have other types of tubulars that they can use in wet conditions , so , I'm wondering if the problem in Giro was something to do with a greasy surface. For instance , the Hilltop roundabout , outside Johnstone, is leathal after a dry spell and is a favourite for spillages also. .
oscar
Stage 4 won by Mark Cavendish in a sprint finish to the line. Sir Brad still in gold jersey with a 37 second lead overall. Tour goes to Caerphilly today.

oscar
Final stage won by Mark Cavendish, his third win of the Tour of Britain 2013. No surprises that the overall winner was Sir Bradley Wiggins who finished 26 seconds ahead of Martin Elmiger of Switzerland. Simon Yates of GB finished third. This was Wiggins first victory in the Tour of Britain and only the second time a Brit has won it (Jonathan Tiernan-Locke won last year). Road World Championship time trials are on Wednesday. Wiggins must be favourite to take the title. Edited September 22, 2013 by oscar
saintnextlifetime
Indeed. . Thought the coverage was a bit poor today , with the crowd partially obscuring the picture as Cav approached the finish . .
