Oh well, if you're not interested we may as well give up on the idea, then......

It's not all about you, StuD.

In a yes / no referendum the country voted no. The consolation prize offered by a back bench MP with no credibility and no power should be disregarded and we should follow the will of the vast majority of Scots and continue with the status quo

Im not intersted in devo max, neither is the majority of the country. Theres no way the winners should be giving the losers any concession s beyond The Scotland Act

That's not true. Polls before the question was sorted repeatedly demonstrated that a DevoMax type option of further devolved powers was the overwhelming preference of voters. Only a small fraction of about 25% have ever wanted the status quo when given 3 choices.

That is demonstrably NOT what the will of the Scottish people is but it would be great if Westminster continued to believe that.

The overwhelming majority of Scots want more powers. Ignore that at your peril.

Oaky still having a nightmare on this thread?

Never forget his statement in the weeks leading up to the vote. ' 60-40 YES, you heard it here first ' lol.gif:

Don't know what he's beefing about but the 60/40 doofer you quoted is a lot nearer the mark than quite a few of his many prognostications.

IF the will of the scottish people was for the status quo, why did brown need to make his grand intervention 10 days before polling, when he offered "home rule" which the media reported as "devo max". Why did the 3 westminster leaders sign up for "the vow" which again was reported as "devo max". Why did no one correct this? Why in the last few days of the campaign did labour run a campaign of "if you dont know, vote no (and get more powers)" Why has polling over the last 2 years consistently shown that scots wanted devo max and would have voted for that if it had been available on the ballot paper?

Policing costs for something billed as a family fun day.

Mibees once the orange order start paying costs of their cultural wanders...

I'm sure the Orange Order class their marches as family fun days too. And certainly the DO have to ensure they have sufficient numbers of marshalled at an event or else they have to pay policing costs. Either way though it's duly noted that you agree that the "event" is not likely to be free to those law abiding citizens of Glasgow who will see their council tax payments being diverted into policing yet another political rally for a minority groups in Scottish Society.

Aside, of course, from the astronomical costs involved there is the obvious detrimental affect that such events have on traffic disruption, to businesses in and around Glasgow City Centre, and to residents and shoppers in the area.

At a cost to the council which will means less money for council run services for the elderly and the vulnerable - which are already heavily squeezed thanks to the SNP policy of Council Tax freezes. Never mind though - the nasti Natsi's don't give a f**k about anyone who might have voted No.
