Bolton watching McGinn according to the sun

With the caveat of the Sun spouting drivel factored in, it is inevitable that English clubs will be watching John. He is a tremendous talent. I hope he sticks around for another season and a half to further develop his game, but can't be at all confident of this.

I'd be surprised if there wasn't a lot more clubs looking at McGinn. The problem that young talented Scots have, is they get seduced by the offer of increased wages at the likes of Bolton or Blackburn. Then it doesn't work out as there clubs are badly run and going nowhere and they end up back home ,tails between their legs, half the player they were before they left. Hopefully John will realise this , stay for a wee while longer, continue developingplaying first team football, before getting a move to a much better club than Bolton !! Anyway Bolton are over £163M in debt,, where's the tranfer fee coming from???

I've heard whispers that John comes from a football family and might even have a grandparent who was involved in the game at some point, but that might just be fanciful nonsense. If true, however, I'm hoping he might be counselled into sitting tight for a wee while.

All young John has to do is talk to his brother. The big English dream hasn't worked out as well for him as he thought it might. Then again, he's earning megabucks compared to what he was on with us.

Or he can talk to traitor boy McCarthy and discover that hanging about for something like 100 odd first team games will make it easier to succeed - either way it all amounts to the same thing:

Stay another couple of seasons at Saints and earn a move where you'll be a shoe-in to become a regular

Pretty sure his brother would advise him to jump at the chance of moving down south. Stephen was unfortunate to pick up a bad injury whilst being a regular with Watford playing in the championship but is now a regular playing in League 1 in front of over 15,000 home fans. To a footballer that is surely better than playing in front of 4,000 odd fans each week earning peanuts. Perhaps not the "English dream" he was looking for but certainly an improvement on where he was.

Hopefully he will stay at least another season to establish himself as a first team regular before heading off in the attempt to further his footballing career. Great wee player who is being nurtured well by Danny Lennon, Tommy Craig and the rest of the coaching staff.

Is earning mega bucks not what it's all about?

Gary McSheffrey has just been allowed to leave Chesterfield. He'd do a brilliant job for us as a goalscoring left-sided attacker.

he's never really strayed far from the Midlands, though, so it might be a tough sell.

Was he not linked with us in the past?

He's only 5ft 8 so not really the like for like with Thommo which we really need.
