The US (Amazon) remake of Utopia has not received good reviews.

https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2020/sep/25/utopia-review-sanitised-remake-is-no-match-for-cult-tv-original

An ultraviolent show centring on a deranged ex-scientists attempt to prevent (via a comic book) right wing eco-extremists unleash a flu-like pandemic that will ultimately kill 95% of the human race - perhaps it's just a little to dark for 2020.

The UK original was, erm, visceral!

Docu on Glen Campbell on BBC4 tonight @ 10.40pm.

Covering his times as a session guitarist with The Monkees in the 60s, Country superstar in the 70s, is drug fuelled days with Tanya Tucker and his later career up until his enforced retirement in 2013 due to Alzheimer's. Seen it before & expect I'll shed a few tears again - it'll be a hard hearted viewer who doesn't.

Spinning a Yarn: The Dubious History of Scottish Tartan (BBC4 again)

Nothing I didn't really know - the list of Tartans was compiled/invented by a pair of brothers from Surrey embellishing it a false provenance they claimed to trace back the Middle Ages and that there was no real link between Clans and a particular tartan till roundabout the 1790s!

The modern kilt is your nothing more than fucking slaveware!

Spoiler

Just don't tell the Tartan Army!

Aye they are a very good double act. My kids enjoy watching that Jungle show especially the eating contests. Maybe I should introduce such dinner challenges at our meal times to get them to try new meals?

Tonight I will tempt them with a mild korma curry laced with......

That's the challenges I don't like.

I'm afraid I'd be "out of here" if I had to face them.

Think is starts next Sunday. :thumbs2

I watched an absolutely BRILLIANT Western fillum, last night on BBC Iplayer.  It's still there.

The Homesman

https://www.imdb.com/find?q=The+Homesman&ref_=nv_sr_sm

Starring Hilary Swank (double Academy Award winner!) and Tommy Lee Jones.  from 2014, it appears.

I didn't recognise it at all - I must've been working away when it was released (or something)...

I  read Geoff McNab's review on Rotten Tomatoes, in which he raves about it and says it's the best Western since...

Cint Eastwood's Unforgiven

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0105695/

I'm inclined to agree with him.

Harsh, bloody at times, an intricate tale and stark, haunting photography of the landscapes in which Frontiers-people had to try to survive.

Better than anything else I've seen this year.

Free on BBC I player:

ps It's also pretty funny on occasion!  :)

We plan to watch THIS ONE...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/m00038l3/the-new-girlfriend

...tonight.

Utterly opposite of The Homesman, but it looks like good fun! :)

FREE!

EDIT: Just realised that I may have posted bollox, above.

I believe that, this evening, there may be a fitba match on telly that she might want to watch, instead...
