All this assuming the above tweet is in any way an accurate reflection of the kind of money the guy can command. Could undoubtedly be a decent signing for an SPFL club, but would we have him ahead of Thommo? I'd have him as cover/deputy for the legend. It just goes to show how fortunate we are to have Thompson at the club. Sure he needs a break from time to time, and we definitely cannot rely on him to do the business week-in-week-out, but we won't be bringing anyone in who is even remotely close to the standard he has set, unless Danny unearths a gem from somewhere that no-one else has had a sniff at (a somewhat unlikely scenario even taking Isma into account). The Rooney situation does put things into perspective in terms of where we sit in the market. We need to be realistic about who we can bring in. As has been said already, a player in the Parkin mould would probably fit the bill, or, failing that, a lower league player who knows the way to goal.
