Slightly off topic cos I dont read comics now.

But I used to read theTopper when I was a wean, when my mum would buy it at Skye Crescent shop.

Then Roy of the Rovers,

Then Shoot!

Then moved on to Smash Hits,

And finally.......Fiesta, Mayfair and Escort.

Dont read now cos I went blind..............I was warned!!!!! :-)

I had a paper round from Malky Martin's shop at the Skye Crescent shops. There was another newsagent there run by Dunky and Jimmy Jowett. Dunky was quite a famous amateur boxer in his day. I first read Roy of the Rovers in the Tiger. Loved it. You've got some mother if she was buying you Fiesta, Mayfair and Escort.

Well, I'm assuming so, he also had a shop in Love Street, sold all sorts of junk.

Even sold screen prints I made in Camphill of Bruce Lee, a nice wee earner for me. clap.gif

The Malky Martin I'm talking about was at one time a cobbler. I think after Skye Crescent he had a shop in Alice Street. I liked him and he was always good to us. He lived in Lothian Cresc.when he had the Skye Cresc. shop.
