Kilmarnock V St Mirren Top League 7/5/14

I rolled a dice This morning and it came up a 1.

Just rolled it again and it came up a 2.

1-1 or a 0 -2 or a 2-0.

Better than the 2010 World Cup octopus I reckon.

Particularly since it is now in the big fish tank in the sky.

How this game goes will very much depend on Killie's result against Hearts today. If they don't win, we won't need to give a f**k, and they'll be desperate for a result. However, that can sometimes make one team play with freedom and the other team far too nervous & cautious.

So, it's mibbes aye, mibbes naw, I suppose!

It's got the look of a draw though really. We're winning at home, drawing away. That kind of form will win us the league next season ;-)

We still need to get a point to be absolutely safe regardless of Killie's result today against the Jambo's.

They could lose today, win their last two games and if we were to lose against Hearts we could finish 11th if other results went against us.

I hope they lose today and we beat them 7-0 just to save any doubts....

If Killie lose today then I'm pretty sure we can't be caught.

I tried to find a losing permutation yesterday and didn't manage it. Maybe someone else can.

Phew....I'm really happy about that.....don't think I can bring myself to say publicly "come on the dirty Jambo's!!!!"

Oops I just did......ah feck it may as well say it again:

COME ON THE DIRTY JAMBO'S!!!

However if Killie do win today, then we really need to go out and win.

The players shouldn't be thinking about survival now.

There is a vast sum of money available for finishing 7th.

Pride too but AFAIK the difference is about £80k per place.

The difference between 7th and 11th is around a quarter of a million pounds.

Hopefully I'm not talking absolute horseshit here.

I may be wrong though but finishing 7th is financially crucial.

I've seen those figures before, and they are a projection for this season's money based on an estimated total prize pool of £18m. F*ck knows what the prize pool actually is, though.

You can tell right away that they are not the old figures because there isn't a yawning chasm between 2nd and 3rd.

i.e. the old system was deliberately set up so that the former Old Firm kept all the money. Prize money increased by 0.5% of the pot per league position, then took a massive jump of 5.5% between 3rd and 2nd places, which was why it was so incredibly lucrative for any team to manage the unlikely feat of splitting Rangers and Celtic.

The new system doesn't have the big jump between 3rd and 2nd.

The figures have been reduced since the league bodies merged and the play-offs were introduced.

Cheesy's dad will know the exact value of us finishing 7th, 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th.

Finishing 11th could actually be more lucrative than finishing 9th or 10th as you have the added benefit of the play-off home match revenue and it may also include some additional TV money (unless that is pooled).

Just as long as it's not Saints!

There is no additional tv money for the play offs this season. The tv companies argued that they had contracted to tell the story of the season and the season won;t be over until all promotion/relegation is decided. Because Doncaster's a cock As a goodwill gesture the SPFL decided to let them have the play offs free of charge this season.

Apparently 50% of the play off monies goes straight to the SFA's coffers.

Richard Gordon suggested that it might be used towards the parachute payment if the Premiership team goes down.

I hope Raw Chutney and the Hives draw on Tuesday night.

We beat Killie by one goal and then Killie only have to beat Hibs by 3 to go above them.

Even if Partick get beat by Hearts, as long as it is only by one goal, then a draw between the Jags and Raw Chutney will put the Hives down to the play off as they have scored the least amount of goals.
