Players Leaving!

Carey is far more versatile and would be a better option, he can play left mid, right mid, left back and off the striker, he would be a good option to have.

Tess left us for an extra 100 quid a week and his agent messed the club about for long enough.

You just love Carey don't you :P

I get where you are coming from but surely they would have the decency to let the club know. Dilo didn't. Who also said what we offered?

If you were at a club and they offered you money and your agent said to hold out a few weeks as he was working on a few different options which could be worth more then would you not hold off on a decision. Maybe our offer was ok but if he has found a better deal good luck to him. And if the board really rated him then why not have made the offer earlier?

The difference this season (apart from mclean) id that we are not dicking about waiting on players to let us know their future. The mclean situation is slightly different as we are due some sort of development fee.

We wait too long, we miss out on potential replacements. Im glad Tommy and the coaches are pressing ahead and identifying players.

The other difference is if we withdraw the contract offer then we are not entitled to compensation

If we were offering shite and they were looking for a better wage packet do you not see their point?

St Mirren now spend one of the highest % of total income on player wages out of all the SPL clubs.

And before you blame the board (again) for offering short contracts to players and young players, as soon as guys like McLean, McGinn, Naismith, and Kellybroke into the first team they got extended contracts - in McLean's case there was a 3 year extension and he has been offered new deals since then as well.

Dilo MIGHT have reflected on which other team in the top flight in ANY developed country would give a 19 year old so many first team starts?

He may then regret playing the waiting game and potentially ruining his future.

I believe if he did sign a new contract he would have been in line to make the number one spot his own after kello moves on.

He obviously has better offers and much, much better money - which is what counts these days. When will people realise that players were only loyal to a club or planned a career based on first team opportunities when everybody was paid pish money. There are millionaires at football clubs now who will happily take the money and never step on the park from one season to the next. Pantilimon spent 3 seasons at Man City, played seven times and pocketed about £6M. And it's not just in the top leagues either. There is a 20 year old Bulgarian U21 keeper been at Notts Forest for three seasons. He has played for the first team once and been on loan for a few games to the lower leagues. He has earned over £200K since he signed for them - excluding any signing fee he might have been paid. He won't be worried about missing out on being Saints No1, if and when he gets his next chance. Sad but true.

Nobody is talking about loyalty.

I personally couldn't care less if he stayed or left.

HE may consider he's wasted an opportunity to get perhaps a couple of years of first team top flight experience under his belt at which point, good performances at that level would have secured him a substantially more lucrative contract than he would get now.

He may also consider whether not actually responding to an offer AT ALL was a wise move at 19. Now following the clubs announcement of this, he's marked himself out as a bit of a twat to every other club.

If he has better offers why is he coming out saying he was forced out the club? He was forced out though was offered a new contract? Laughable. Lets move on, we have a new goalie in anyways.
