Why So Much Negativity ?

Recommended Posts

I was toying with doing a post saying much the same as you. A great post. The comments that keep coming, allegedly from St.Mirren supporters about Reilly are a bloody disgrace. And the shit Marc McAusland has taken over the years is damnable. Do these pricks get their rocks off with their continual vilification of young players trying their damnedest for our club? One thing for sure is that these assholes would not be missed as 'supporters' and they would be no loss to our forum. No doubt freedom of speech etc.will soon be spouted but sod it, at least try to support everyone who plays for our team. When some of our young players do fail, as happens, we know you'll all crawl out the woodwork to proclaim what clever arseholes you are. No doubt it'll make you feel like some kind of super-hero. When you support a team, you should try and sound like you mean it and learn to take the good with the bad. If you can't, f**k off and support someone else.

Is it that time of the month? whistling.gif

As we all know there are some folk on here that just slate everything St.Mirren, from signings, style of play, manager and the like. It baffles me as to why these guys are actually St.Mirren fans, what enjoyment do they get from supporting the Saints ?

Quite a few of them aren't.

I won't name names because we all know who they are but come on guys FFS, it seems to me you have the whole idea of what supporting a club is all about, slagging everything about the club is not supporting the club at all !!!

My advice for the new season to you is, face facts the Super Saints are a small club and always will be, we will no doubt be fighting relegation this year again but instead of being so negative just enjoy being a Saints fan because see when you do it right it's f***ing awesome.

And yes I expect many many replies calling me everything from an ar**hole to a clueless idiot! but one thing for sure! come the start of the season I will be 100% behind Tommy Craig and whoever he puts on the pith and furthermore I will enjoy it.

I think though we could be clear of the relegation fight very early if we can bring in a couple of good signings and keep Thompson fit.

The reason I'm negative is because I'd like to see us do better.

I'd actually put your question to the happy clappers - why do you bother if you are happy with defeat?

In saying that, I am happy with how pre-season has gone and am happy with the squad (albeit I'd obviously like to see another 1 or 2 added who have quality).

I think we'll have a good season ahead.

Isabella....I am never happy with defeat....why do I bother ? Because St.Mirren are my team, always have been and always will be.

Negativity is poisonous. Maybe you personally feel a sense of release of emotion but it is a wet blanket that brings down the spirit and enthusiasm of everyone else around you.

Negativity achieves negative consequences whereas positivity motivates, inspires and builds bonds and produces positive consequences.

Being positive does not mean you do not care or just accept anything. It means you work with what you have and improve what you have and try to gain a higher standard. Negativity achieves nothing. :)

I have seen many more downs than ups but have never lost my passion for the club. On a positive note, we are still in the top division and for a small club with limited resources and small support that is to be applauded. BTW, I found a 1964 newspaper and read a review of Saints v Falkirk which ended 0-0. Crowd? 3000. Nothing has changed much attendance wise in 50 years. Reality check needed at times and appreciate where we currently are while 3 of the biggest clubs are in the division below us. KTF.

As a supporter of over 50 years I will continue to support the club I love. I have watched us win leagues trophies and performed in Europe. We now have a superb stadium excellent training facilities and should be able to attract good players. Most clubs have a limited budget. I do not expect us to flirt with relegation every season. Is it not too much to eclipse what the likes of Inverness and the fake saints have achieved in the spl.

Neither did Hearts or Hibs.

We should support whatever 11 are fortunate enough to pull on the black and white stripes ...... players will come and go but St Mirren are a constant. The team has been relatively successful over the years and instead of taking cheap shots at players we should get right behind the team and hopefully encourage them to greater things. As someone has already stated negativity achieves nothing.

COYS !

^^^^^^ This ^^^^^^

Compared to other top flight clubs in Scotland with similar sized supports Saints have quite possibly over-achieved along with Kilmarnock.

Motherwell last won a major honour in 1991 despite spending vast sums of money more than ourselves.

St Johnstone have only just won their FIRST domestic honour.

Partick Thistle last won a major in 1971

Ross County - Nil

ICT - Nil.

As for the lower leagues

Morton - only major honour in 1922

Falkirk - only major honour in 1957

The Rangers - Nil

History counts for nothing when the new season begins, but we have a lot to be proud of given ourselves and Celtic are the only two clubs left in the top flight who helped create the Scottish League.

A proud history and a hopefully a prosperous future with many talents coming through the Academy.

Long Live the Paisley Saints.

I like the lad bit- keep it up. I don't know why folk keep going on about rage. I rarely get angry. The post was a combination of agreeing with Skye Saint and getting fed up with the sniping at young Reilly. Is he to be the next one to get the disgusting treatment Cheesy has had to suffer for the last three years? Does it cross your mind that the moaning minnies who won't leave the boy alone manage to inject a lot of bile and spleen into their posts? Why can't they just shut up and bite the tongues they keep in their big mouths? If I was a moderator I would certainly try to have a system where posters could be suspended if despite warnings they continue with way over the top criticism of young boys in our team. Is buying a season ticket a passport permitting 'fans' to pour vitriol on our players knowing they are fireproof? I know some will say what about free speech? What about behaving like a civilised human being?
