So Farewell Then Sam Galbraith

Always seemed far too decent for a politician. Didnt he have a liver transplant or something equally as serious about 10 years ago

Lung transplant. He was the longest living survivor of a lung transplant as well - 25 years!

And I think he was from Greenock rather than Renfrew although I've no idea where he lived

I'm with StuD for once, operated on my father-in-law 30 years ago and saved his life, seemingly (before I met the missus). Was held in awe by her and the rest of the family. Didn't he live in Renfrew?

RIP Mr Galbraith.

Wait... you operated on your father in law1eye.gif

In the late 70's and early 80's he used to drink in the Overflow just off Old Dumbarton Road near the Kelvin Hall. Didn't know him really but he seemed like a nice guy and he was always surrounded by a crowd of young doctors and nurses. What a shame.

Ah.... That Sam Galbraith. I was whooshed.

This was a really good guy. Genuine loss. I admired him as a politician, never knew ( till I found out about his health issues) why he vanished from the scene, popped on and off.

Also never knew he went up the hills. Despite the poor health.

A good guy, but not a famous grocer. :(

His reputation was as a man of integrity - the sort of guy we all need to see more of.

R I P Sam Galbraith.

Couldn't agree more. I didn't know him personally but my wife did. She worked in the Haematology department of The Royal and had to deal with Sam at times. Apparently some of the doctors and a fair few surgeons liked to be treated like gods but Sam was simply the nicest guy to deal with. No airs and graces about him. i mentioned earlier that he was in The Overflow most Friday nights with a crowd of his colleagues. He wasn't much older than most of them but he really was a bit of a legend already in neurosurgery and he was hero-worshiped by them all. He always waved over to my wife or had a brief chat with her. A real good guy.
