I posted this in the SM thread then decided it needed a topic all of its own (unless the mods decide otherwise :) )

I could go on around the globe with links but its fair to say that Stephen Mallan at 18 is the most famous player in St Mirren's history!

And its interesting that the goal has been shown in many media outlets in South America. Does that help to bring in new South American buyers and attract samba skills to Paisley????

Well done Mr Mallan smile.png

Given that the lad has only played a couple of games and this was his first goal for Saints, I hope the coaching staff have got him shining the boots. His head cannot be allowed to end up in the clouds over this.

It's actually not good for Saints that he is getting so much attention as agents are, by nature, money hunters and will not let the lad sign an extensive contract if he feels he can get the player, therefore themselves, a hefty signing on fee.

Great advert just before the goal's shown on that link. Ta. :)

The Ad's in Italian, of course, but I can see and understand that it's for a Gillette Razor.

And also that worryingly, according to the third line, it makes you fart like a barber whilst using it. :o

(My Italian may be a little rusty...)

St Mirren: Stephen Mallan wins young player of the month award

St Mirren midfielder Stephen Mallan has been named the Scottish Professional Football League's young player of the month for December.

The 18-year-old scored a sensational individual goal as the Buddies secured a crucial 3-1 win against Dundee at Dens Park on 27 December.

Mallan has made seven appearances for the Paisley outfit this season.

He made his debut for St Mirren in the 3-0 defeat at Hamilton in November, coming on as a substitute.

Must be worth at least £2 million after today's goal.

I'm sure we could get it up to £5 million if the media could hype him up like they did with the no mark that the Govan based laughing stock just punted for £1 million.dry.png

He's the right age to interest one of the big English clubs - probably a pity he'll likely still be on a youth contract but there's no doubt he's the hot property on our books at present.

Gotta play the Mondays on Wednesday night create a bit of atmosphere on what might be a sparsely attended match.

Mallans goal against Dundee was exceptional and probably attracted a lot of Scouts to watch him , but his goal against Ross County was also exceptional , in so much that it was the dying minutes of the game , he the the youngest player on the park , had been playing in a team a man down for the previous hour , and he still had the energy to burst forward into a goalscoring position , and score the winner .

Must have a fantastic attitude , which might be the thing the seperates those that get the big money move and those that don,t

agree with you, regarding his energy levels and I noticed that the previous week. It was also his pressing that won us the ball when Mclean missed his chance instead of passing to Arquin.
