Not sure what fee is involved. This is on the STV Sport deadline day feed. Doubt we'll be able to bring in like for like quality, but maybe bring in a couple of players to strengthen the squad? I assume the much quoted clause in his contract has been triggered.

From being fairly upbeat after Friday, this will be a massive boot in the nuts for fan morale!!

St Mirren midfielder Kenny McLean will travel north to sign for Aberdeen, Press Association Sport understands.

The 23-year-old will undergo a medical and complete the formalities on a three-and-a-half year deal.

The Dons will pay a six-figure fee for the former Scotland Under-21 player, who has 18 months left on his contract.

In January, League One side Fleetwood Town had a £150,000 bid rejected for McLean, one of Scottish football’s most highly-rated players

Ho ho! Being reported by the Press Association, on STV Sport and by journos on Twitter.

I sincerely hope it is nonsense but they're all going with the story.

Horrendous to lose McLean, and to Aberdeen at that, but believe he has a release clause in his contract. Fee must be around £300- £400K

Nightmare scenario, going on deadline day and at best a last minute rush to sign a replacement (hopefully a CH) - quelle surprise!

Disappointing if this goes through, strange one, yip Aberdeen much bigger club than us but Kenny could do much better. His silky skills could struggle on there shit pitch.

Anyway he doesn't owe us anything, great player for us and I'd wish him all the best

Someone at the club advised a colleague of mine that the Dons certainly made an offer for Kenny but it was way short of our valuation and was knocked back.

If he is indeed travelling up to Aberdeen with a view to signing then it'll be because of the usual stupid contract clause.

We always seem to get caught out by this nonsense.

is anyone surprised? the minute he signed a 2 year deal in the summer I expected there to be a release cluse in the contract. Maybe all we could do to get kenny to sign a 2 year deal and not 1?

absolutly gutted hes away, fantastic player and 1 i dont know how we will replace.
