bluto
Thanks for the photies you guys have posted. mcd, (lovely initials by the way) the clarity of your photo is amazing. Can you describe to me where the Piccadilly was? Still can't place it. And bluto, now I've seen the lighthouse I do remember it and I recall being in it once. But the name Lighthouse still means nothing. Was it always called that? I believe there was also rhyming slang used to describe The Lighthouse.... mcd54
Can you describe to me where the Piccadilly was? Not exactly! It was in the row of buildings to the left of the Abbey in the photo. You can just make out a white shop awning in that row. That`s the best I can offer
bluto
Piccadilly and the Lighthouse are both in this picture. Other places still standing (bottom left) in that excellent picture are the auld Gaol and Town Hall - and the turret of the auld Gaol is pointing towards the Theatre still on Smithhills Street. Barman ask if I had proof of my age, does it matter I said, no I don't suppose it does, lager was it
Tommy
Piccadilly and the Lighthouse are both in this picture. Good picture and I see the Mill St bridge is still to be built.
