New Kit Spoiler Alert

Recommended Posts

Polyester strip washing techniques and stadium Hall of Fame panels are two subjects I don't talk about on this forum.... Anyway, nice looking day today, eh? September the first. Nights will soon be fair drawing in....

Something to do with your bath and David Van Zanten. You're right, not sure we need to hear about that!

If SG or Brian Caldwell are reading this and we all know that you do then it is time that JD and the board treated the fans with some respect over the home strip debacle (not only the lack of a kids kit but the shoddy quality of the adult ones) and also having to wait until well into September at least for the release of the away kits.

We had a one line apology in July but nothing since. We can talk about boycotts but tell kids that they can't get the strip because JD are usless and we want to hit them in the pocket.

I think both the home and away had collar changes later in the period of that Umbro strip without any other significant change. The early strips had a collar (with an Umbro diamond on the 'flaps'), but it changed to the broad banded collar later in the period.

Imagine a football club keeping a strip largely unchanged for 3 or 4 years!? How did clubs survive, have skilful players and compete in Europe before the rampant commercialism (that they now can't do without) arrived.

The collar on the 77/81 change strip is different to the e-bay one.

Both home and away tops from Umbro, changed the collar style for 1979-80 to a simple V neck.

I don't think that's a genuine top, cant remember us ever having a strip with such a large

white v neck, could be wrong though I would have been pretty young back then...

I'm with you on this big guy. AFAIK the red away retained the collar , I don't remember a V-neck. Only pic I can find is one of Luther in a game against Kilmarnock in 1980 and the strip has a collar , by that time the home strip had the v-neck !
