Yes he scored a couple of good goals, but in open play he has been largely ineffective as a central midfielder. If you compare him to the likes of the other Steven Thomson as an example he is a mere light weight in comparison. Carswell and Howieson have still IMO to turn up yet, Conlan can go back and save us money developing players for Burnley.

Oh FFS give it a rest.

It's Monday and you're STILL bleating about Saturday?

It's only a game FFS.

Sorry. How can you describe Agnew as a luxury. He's shite. Nothing luxury about him

A luxury player is someone like quitongo. Agnew is not luxury

Maybe in LPM world "luxury", is a cardboard box with 150 living within it in a septic tank?

I wouldn't mind seeing Howieson played in central midfield instead of Agnew. More of a physical presence and seems to keep possession quite nicely. He's never a winger, Murray has said as much, so why play him there?

Watched Agnew a number of times now and he's nowhere near good enough. Game passes him by and doesn't stamp his authority on the game. Only valuable at set pieces but his work in midfield isn't good enough. Think Murray thought he could step up but not so far. Squad player at the moment. We need to get him out the first team and onto the bench

Mallan is now starting to find some form again and is way better player than Agnew

Couldn't agree more, Howieson should be given the chance to play a more central role.

Agnew is far too lightweight same as McMullan, didn't mcMullan get a ball kicked off him on Saturday which ended his afternoon ??

Whit?

Agnew is a 28 year old player who's spent pretty much his whole career in part time football, and let's be honest, you can tell.

He plays like a part time player. He looked good against Berwick when he had that extra yard of space to shoot, and similar against Dumbarton. It's no surprise his two best games and all three of his goals have been against part time opponents. If we were a part time team Agnew would be a fine player to have, we aren't though.

Against full time teams he doesn't get the same amount of time and his effectiveness is nullified. He doesn't have the attributes needed to make his own space, he isn't quick enough, smart enough or strong enough.

Compare him to young Mallan this season. Would say they're both relatively similar style of players. Mallan is far younger though, and he's already a better player than Agnew ever has been or ever will be.

Problem we have is there isn't really many midfield options to replace him. Drop him for Howieson is the only real alternative I guess. Maybe he will be better, maybe not, definitely worth a try though.

Would expect Agnew and Gow to be for the mutual consent treatment before the end of January.

No. This is painfully inaccurate, now please stop trying to make points about matches you have publicly stated you no longer attend and let the folk who actually go to games, debate.

Agnew -

What he's good at: Shooting

What he's not good at: Defending, tackling, passing.

Keep him away from our goal and closer to the opposition goals.

Or off the pitch.

The previous assault on Paul McMullan by Peter Grant was the reason he went off injured, not the instance where the ball was kicked off his leg in front of the dugouts.

He was already suffering the effects of the first tackle, and that's why he had to go off.

Yeah it is much easier posting this rather than thinking through a debating point, opinion or position. But its a bit "last year".

then why not try to change the trend and post something positive for a change

most negative post's seem to be from the same people on here

it is getting a but dull now to be honest

or better still if McMullan is injured i would play him in the hole behind the front one or two

Exactly, we need to use our strengths. Agnew has proven he can score goals with his shooting ability so play him just behind the striker(s) and forget about asking him to track back, tackle and create.

He's more lethal at shooting than any of our strikers are so to my mind he should be up that end of the pitch

Why don't you post something constructive for a change rather than attacking fellow posters

It's getting a bit dull now to be honest
