The Pretenders...........considering I only knew about a third of their songs the 90 minute set was very good. Chrissie can hold a tune and put on a very good show. Simple Minds.............only seen around 30 minutes, reason below. Crux of the matter is people turn up half drunk, and I had a few drinks before and during, but seem hell bent on getting smashed and not giving a feck about anyone else which became increasingly annoying. Another sign people don't give a feck about anybody else except themselves. Wouldn't go to an open air/standing only concert again.

After they sorted out some guitar sound problems, the 2nd half of Simple Minds set was excellent. We stood in 2 locations in the Silver band area and never saw any bother with drunks at all. You should have moved elsewhere and enjoyed the show.

I was in the Gold area, moved 3 times, always a drunk arsehole wanting to be the star of the show. Was a similar story last year when I seen Olly Murrs, and heard horrific stories at the Little Mix concert just before that.

Woman in her 30's drunk offering a sandwich to those around her all refused. Came to me said no thanks. Next thing she is trying to get her male friends to give me a kicking thankfully they told her to shut up. Not all music festivals have a problem with minority fools. Festivals tend to be extremely friendly places where you meet lots of like minded people. Bute Fest is brilliant as it casters for families there are simlour festivals around the country long may the continue.

Pretty well sums up my experiences IoBS, I now tend to go much more to the smaller festivals which for the most part are positive experiences. I've been to the last 9 Tiree Music Festivals for example, 2000 visitors turn up on the island each time and although I've seen a few with a drink in them I have seen absolutely no trouble whatsoever.....the blootered get escorted off site gently until they are in a fit state to return!! DumboBud
The Kathryn Joseph gig at the tramway was stunning although very short at just on an hour. One question though, if you were 7ft tall and had the biggest head in the world why would you stand right at the front at a gig.

E=Mc2
The reason Alice Howe and Freebo are appearing in Kilbarchan is that the promoter lives there so it’s an easy one for him. This lady is an exceptional talent on her way up.

Saw them at King Tuts, then the 02 ABC, now the Barras. Next stop the Hydro. ...now they are Mercury Music Prize winners and all over the mainstream media today. Next stop The Hydro, as predicted by yours truly back in 2016 (amongst many others to be fair). I heard their first single in passing when someone in the ‘Soccer AM’ studio used it to soundtrack a goals clip. I instantly looked up from my cuppa’ thinking ‘who are they, that’s brilliant...’ I texted my mate who likes the same sort of music as me, he’d never heard of them. As I posted on here back at the time - we immediately checked them out, bought their first EPs, saw them in a three-quarters full King Tuts, and we knew, instantly, that these four kids were going to be massive. It’s the second time in my life this has happened. Sometime around 1979/80, I was in ‘Listen’ across from the Paisley museum, and the young bloke working in the shop suddenly put on a record that made me stop in my tracks and, like Wolf Alice, just go ‘wow who are they’.... it was U2, and the guy in Listen was a young Irish bloke working there for a bit. He told me these young kids were a new Dublin band and he knew one of them. This was one of their very first Irish release singles and he brought it over with him. Like Wolf Alice, I tried to find out who this ‘U2’ were. I bought all their early singles before the debut album ‘Boy’ even came out. First saw them on a university tour at Strathclyde, with the ticket costing £1.75. I knew they were going to be massive. After the university, saw them at Tiffany’s Ballroom, then a bigger venue, then.... well, next stop stadiums and world domination. I always found it weird, watching U2 at Hampden or somewhere, and thinking back to a half empty Strathclyde University, and that young Irish kid in Listen records... a long time ago, a different world. Anyway, well done Wolf Alice. Edited September 22, 2018 by pozbaird

I don't understand why people load up on drink in advance to avoid paying frstival prices, but end up smashed enough to continue topping up at the bar anyway.
