St Mirren V Hibernian Spfl Championship

We have 2 suspended from our back 4, we are at an all time low coupled to the fact that we've not won at home in the league all season. We now face a really strong Hibs side.

Having taken all of the above into account this is the type of game we end up winning. Get your money on the Buddies, it makes no sense but that's the way of things.

Jordan Stewart looks far better than Conlan imho. Not too bothered if he comes in and Kelly slots into centre half but right back is a problem.

Agreed on Stewart. Thought Conlan was having his best game for us before the red card against Morton (although he didn't exactly have a multitude of stellar performances to top) but have been far more encouraged by Stewart's displays. Would rather we develop our own youngsters rather than those from other clubs. Fair enough with the likes of McMullan and Shankland as we don't have any obvious youth player candidates to play there but in this occasion we do. Some people have suggested Conlan is a centre-half being asked to play leftback so maybe he'll play there with Kelly staying where he is.

Rightback is the issue though. Cuddihy has given away two penalties so far while playing there and Baird one - and he looked terrible the game against Livi where he was played there. Dunno what other option there is short of going to a back three - Goodwin?!

Back three maybe? Baird - Webster - Kelly? Conlan could probably play in there too.

Cuddihy clearly isn't a natural right back, not fair to play him there.

I would play Morgan before McMullan for two reasons.

1. IMHO he offers far more to the team than McMullan. He looked really good yesterday for example when he came on and created a few good openings and he tracks back and works a lot harder than McMullan.

2. And even if there is a debate on who is the better player are we not better developing our own player via game time than helping Celtic?

I made point two when talking about Stewart over Conlan however I'd say McMullan is better than Morgan. We could try something crazy like playing both of them, have Goodwin and Mallan in the middle and play Gallagher is a striker alongside Shankland or Thompson. A game against Hibs might not be the time to try that right enough.

Agreed regarding Morgan. He simply looks a better player than McMullan who's really done nothing for weeks.

Hopefully he and McLear get more game time in the coming weeks.
