tuurner
A short little 2 minute chat on the radio, wasn't much said. Edit: at one point it did sound as if a new deal had been agreed but then he started to talk about JD again. ulysses
Aye, basically the club are pushing JD for info/release date/etc, not much more they can do at the moment.Tony F stating again that the JD deal is excellent for the club.

It might be great for the club but Shull is absolutely right it's a shite deal for the fans. we would be far better off if we had an "off the peg" adidas top. A bespoke strip is great half the time (12/13) and crap half the time (barcode).

A bespoke strip is great half the time (12/13) and crap half the time (barcode). A bespoke kit design should, at the very least, be great all the time. It opens up a ton of possibilities to get fans genuinely involved, and not in a 'Boaty McBoatface' fashion either, or for away fans to hi-jack the vote. Just off the top of my head - get local schools involved in drawing competitions to have a bash at St Mirren strip designs. Even if the BoD could awake from their slumbers long enough to judge the entries - pick the best, oh, let's say 25 entries and display them in Paisley museum. Allow visitors to the museum to vote on the designs. No online voting, so no massive 'Boaty McBoatface' scenario. Gets Saints fans to go into town, see the kids designs, have a vote. BoD narrow it down to a top 3. BoD get JD Sports to tidy their preferred design up and produce it. As I have said many times, JD could make anything I asked for. An amazing service and an amazing opportunity.... All thrown away in a fug of missed opportunity and downright apathy from within the walls of St Mirren Park. Of course you are 100% correct and you have posted some great designs on here over the years but that still relies on a decent manufacturer so the jersey can fit over a childs head and the manufacturer's own logo is sewn on the right way up etc. etc. Although it's great to have a bespoke service, as you say we have missed the opportunity partly from the fug within St. Mirren park but also partly from JD's lack of quality, If you take Shull as an example - he has a child eager to have her teams kit, Shull knows he's going to have to pay a fair whack for it but he has no confidence that he'll get a product that fits, has no flaws in the material, has all the badges and logos the right way up or in the right places or even if it will last the whole season, I'll bet that if it wasn for himself and not his kid, he wouldn't bother. Liverpool Bud
Wouldn't it have been nice that on the day we announced the signing of a new player ahead of an exciting new season that for the press pic new player could have been decked out in the new kit ? Positive press Good reaction Feel good factor ..... All opportunities missed? Could have pulled in some kit sales - sold a few season tickets or even a handful more #buythebuds Interestingly Tranmere signed new player today - they also have a Jd / Cabrini sports deal - their new player wasn't in next seasons kit either!!! However at least the article had the player posing in a Tranmere tshirt which said was one of a new range available in club shop ! Do we just miss a trick every time - or as a club are we just generally not arsed

Do we just miss a trick every time - or as a club are we just generally not arsed Agree. Completely. Sorting out this sort of stuff should be one thing any new SMiSA/GLS ownership model should be able to display 'new-found enthusiasm and ideas' in... With ease. Tap into the fanbase for kit design ideas / get local schools involved as I suggested a few days ago - crack the whip on JD Sports to get quality control issues fixed. Re-negotiate a deal to get kit on sale in our shop. Get an early release date to tap into summer weather / wearing it on holiday sales. Have a well-publicised launch date and get big strapping new signings to model it, not perma-tanned dolly burdz. Any or all of this costs time and effort, and displays a willingness to actually give a fcuk about it - not big cash outlay we cannot afford. Grrr. Rant over. For another day. kevo_smfc
You would think after the amount of years JD have been producing kits for numerous clubs now, they would get it right, with better release dates etc.

Second Decay
I am looking forward to seeing the new top, yes it is frustrating waiting when other clubs have released their new strips, but we are getting over excited, it wasn't that long ago new strips would be issued every 2nd or even 3rd season and we had walk down to the Saints Shop in the piazza to view the new strips for the first time in the window display. Are talking above their recent attempt. One they obviously didn't vote for. As soon as we see ours, we could organise a revolt.

spoogy1
In jd this morning talking to the supervisor/ manager and he was saying that the fans took the decision on the New strip and he was hoping it would be on sale end off month start of next month as he is only going off last year's release time. pozbaird
If it is an homage to the 1987 cup final strip with very thin pinstripes accompanied by white socks and shorts, then it should be a nice change for something different.... Then the big fcuking 'King of Trainers' shield catches your eye. Anyway, should be out in time to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the cup win. kevo_smfc
The strip design really should be signed off months in advance to the point jd can promote it months prior to launch.a good pr stunt to get fans ready.sadly it hasnt been working that way
