Lord Pityme
With the remaining games we will finish 6th, 7th or even 8th in the championship behind The likes of Morton, Dumbarton, Raith and Falkirk. Rae has already been quoted in the media saying the board will not give hime a budget for next season until they know where we will finish..! It Aint rocket science to predict that, and yet again we (Rae) will be playing catch-up trying to get a decent squad together, when others have already secured players for next season. Even if all goes full steam ahead with the Smisa/GLS bid they wont be in place in time to assist Rae... Given all that are we consigned to another season failing to get even a play off spot? How do the boa d justify their heads in the sand approach to actually supporting the manager they appointed? Is this as good as it gets? Hambud
Not sure. Does anyone know the difference in prize money between 6th and 8th. I don't imagine it is that much (in footballing terms anyway).

Budgets for next season will be determined by many factors including season ticket sales and possible sale of the club. Add in potential contract renegotiations, players leaving and who becomes available and affordable from the many players released by clubs across Scotland and elsewhere. What we don't know is who AR wants to keep and who he wants to bring in. There is little reported on most clubs plans for next season other than Dundee signing a couple of ICT players on PCA and interest from them on Mallen. There will be a lot of players looking for a Club in the next month so there will be time to try and bring in new players - whether we can afford them or they are willing to come to us is an entirely different matter. We will have similar crowds and similar season ticket sales, that's not hard to predict, and the manager will surely know who he wants to keep. proudtobeabuddy
Gus Mcpherson usually tried to do a lot of his business well in advance and he didn't do too badly in the first few years! We should be trying to get players in asap so that when we get to pre season we can hit the ground running and have a right good go at winning the league next year. nedflanders123
Whit? Are you saying that the majority of clubs have made little, or no, plans? Surely we are the only club who haven't got our full quota? No, I am sure every club will be making or is in the process of making plans for next season. My point is that only a few PCAs have been reported and that very few clubs have indicated, at this early time, what their plans are for next season. This includes our own beloved club. It was reported that AR wouldn't know the budget until the board knew which league we were operating in next season. That was only assured yesterday. The other issue is which players will be on the market after being released? That is the market we are operating.
shull
I couldnae care. I am just happy to have a St Mirren and to play in whatever League we are in. Top League would be ideal but I am not fussed either way.
shull
We should be part time along with the rest of the Clubs in Scotland. Pay the players what they deserve. Bus Fares.
Kendo
The issue the board had was that we could still have been relegated, therefore they couldn't give Rae a budget. We are safe now so he can start to plan for next season. As usual a mountain being made out of common sense.

Did Bosman pass you by? Players are either in or out of contract. Clubs can't hold on to the registration of players if they are out of contract anymore! Alex Rae will already know the names of every player in Scotland and many of those in England and beyond are will be coming to the end of their contracts! Odds are the only open top bus we'd be in if we weren't in the top league would be around Edinburgh. ????

Exactly.. most managers will have sounded out players who will be available and who they fancy. Rae has been open in saying he has been unable to do this and is already playing catch up which really is unnecesary, and is the approach this board have taken for years now. If anyone thinks this board are doing a good job in giving the manager a reasonable and timely budget for next season please go and tell Rae.... He doesnt agree with you, and he will be the one carrying the can. Rae has made his feelings known and public, our board are only interested in bending over for Sevco. shull
We have had Open Top Doodahs for winning the First Division previously. I am sure we would also have one if we ever won League 2. And also if we won one of the Cups, no matter what Division we were gracing.

Spoke to a Dundee supporter and apart from the previously mentioned deal with ICT they have no idea who they will sign next season. You would think Lookatma has a chip on his shoulder. Lord Pityme
Strange that... Supporters not knowing every conversation, every contact, every move their manager might have made. I Think thats shocking what are these managers thinking not letting their plans and ideas open to be hijacked??? Stunning how little some people actually know about football, but I suppose if they never go to games they are going to have a very limited ubderstanding. faraway saint
^^^^^^ Oh dear. ???? Suppose I should add my Dundee mole is very friendly with a director of Dundee football club. Strange a clown thinks he knows anything about football because he attends some games, when he's not organising a boycott. ???? How's that coming on? ???? Mid Calder Saint
LP sometimes your comments are fine but on this occasion afraid you are way out of line.Last time I checked the table we were level with Queens.I don't think at this stage they or Morton have made any pre contract signings as indeed Hamilton Killie or Utd not knowing where they will be competing next season.Rae has done a great job in the short time at the club and it is my belief that we have the nucleus of a decent squad for next season. The likes of Gary Irvine will be here the return of Naismith and both Cooper and Gallagher keen to extend their contracts.Looking forward to next season and will be renewing three season tickets shortly.
