I never said that the pitch invasion was good or bad , all I did was ask a simple question that only required a simple answer . .

Maybe you should look before you leap , Ian. .

Stupid question put you in among the imbeciles.

Indeed, De Boer was the only one on the panel who realised that there was no chance stewards could have stopped supporters rushing onto the pitch in the numbers that did.

The police restored order very quickly and without inflaming the situation, which could have been a lot worse.

Indeed, if thousands decide to go on the park stewards ain't stopping them. Police resolved it as quickly as they could, esp considering mounted units would've been deployed outside ground for crowd control as fans dispersed after game

Agree with you there, think the playoff has potential to be a cracker!

Quality is questionable, but for pure entertainment, our game in Scotland has been class this season.

Pitch invasions have happened many times over the years, this won't be the last of them. Fannies will be fannies. Nobody died.

That said, footage has appeared of a fully grown man attempting to grab a child. He should be found and prosecuted asap, creepy as f**k. TBF, another Rangers supporter appeared to step in and help the child. Credit where it's due.

It's the Hibs players that I feel for, what should have been their moment to revel in the glory will now always be remembered for the wrong reasons.

Imagine 20 years from now and John McGinn being interviewed and comparing being a part of the first St Mirren team to win the league cup and the first Hibs team to win the Scottish cup in 114 years. One will be remembered for looking at the stands full of delirious St Mirren fans, standing on the pitch soaking it all in, being presented with the medals and the cup and the lap of honour, the other will be remembered for the after match scenes with fannies on the pitch, a long delay in being presented with the medals and cup and no lap of honour. For some of these players this might be the only major honour they win and it will now always be about the fans on the park.

Edited to add

Rod Petrie should resign immediately as the SFA vice chairman after his description of it 'only being over exuberance'. This is the SFA's big tournament and as the vice chairman he should have condemned what happened and stated Hibs would fully support an SFA and police investigation.

Yeah mate I think we've all got pals who support one or the other of the Glasgow arses, and like any sporting team of any code there are your good folk and bad, I work over here with an English guy ( Spurs supporter ) who was raving about our cup final and Scottish football's dynamism, compared to what he described as " the overpaid and often soulless EPL "

What's the problem? Really?

Hibs fans, not only "invade the pitch" they attack rangers players & officials, run directly towards the Rangers fans and you think it's ok? 1eye.gif1eye.gif1eye.gif

Trying to turn this into the fault of Rangers fans is, frankly, embarrassing. thumbdown.gif

TBH it's the fault of both of them but more so Hibs fans.

The pitch invasion was tedious but I have more of an issue with them attacking Rangers players which is unacceptable.

From a Rangers perspective, they need to answer as to why their own fans cant simply accept losing a Cup and leave the stadium with some dignity. WTF were ANY of their fans doing on the pitch?

Of course a section of the Rangers support reacted but the root cause was the Hibs fans.

BOLLOX. The root cause is an unwillingness to accept personal responsibility for their own actions.

The Hibs fans didn't drag these knuckleheads onto the pitch did they?

The Rangers fans could simply have walked away.

What makes this even funnier is you haven't even seen the game/incident as you don't have a TV.

Run along, out of your comfort zone here. 1eye.gif

Aww FFS, that has just destroyed my disbelief in mythical Deities and my philosophical Ludditeism in one fell swoop.

Splitter!

Tonight the rangers have issued an official statement that is completely f**king nuts even by their standards. A rant blaming amongst others Nicola Sturgeon, journalists and the bbc.

Given the wording and grammar it might even been written by the work experience kid.

Everyone knows that Rangers cannot handle defeat. As soon as Hibs scored their winner there was always going to be casualties. Dopey Hibs fans running on the pitch played right into their hands. Condemnation of hooliganism should be a given. There can be no defence of either Hibs or Rangers fans. I felt very sad for our society that yet again we will be portrayed as an uncivilised and backward race.

I was in Glasgow last week visiting Family and was walking through Glasgow green on a beautiful day. A pipe band was practicing as I walked along the Clyde and I admit I was moved by the beauty of the moment. I then walked out of the green right into a republican march and all my melancholia was shattered in an instant by the marchers and their followers who really were a race apart. A real blight on a beautiful day. Will it ever get better? I hope so but I won't hold my breath

Staying to fight with Hibs fans, you know this was the reason? 1eye.gif

Couldn't it have been defeated fans wanting to see their team get their runners up medals, like you did? bye1.gif

You are aware Rangers never got their runners up medals presented due to the Hibs fans behaviour?

In the same way as the majority of Hibs fans did very little seriously wrong and small minority were the ones threatening Rangers players and staff, nicking camera equipment, breaking goalposts, I don't have an issue with saying a small minority of Rangers fans who waited behind got involved in running onto the pitch to fight Hibs fans... have yet to spot any Rangers fans on the pitch managing to protect the players. Incidentally, one of the players supposedly injured by Hibs fans had to be held back from retaliating by other Rangers staff.

My comment about Rangers' fans behaviour was in connection with a club statement saying their own fans had been great and shown restraint... why then are there hunners of photos of their fans on the pitch gesturing to Hibs fans to give them a square go? Hardly the dictionary definition of restraint to go running past police and stewards and go looking for a fight.

Unbelievable to see pictures now emerging of mothers and fathers leading their (in some cases very) young children onto the pitch for pictures with broken goalposts when their was utter mayhem all around them. WTF are these imbeciles thinking about leading your children into that situation, total madness.

Absolutely agree. How the f**k anyone could ever defend those scenes yesterday is beyond me. 6 players attacked, goals damaged, the pitch damaged, Hibs fans goading Rangers fans, Rangers fans stupidly reacting, police horses being called into action, and one utter fanny of a Hibs fan punches a f**king horse and there's some on here defending those scenes, and blaming the police and stewards. Have a word with yourselves, FFS.

We need a strong response from the SFA. Exclusion from next year's competition for both clubs should be the starting point. Fans need to know you Do Not go on the f**king pitch.

I'm not defending fans who fought opposing fans, or attacked or threatened players / coaching staff, stole camera equipment or broke goalposts... I thought my original post made that clear.

How many hundred / thousand police and stewards were on duty at the game? There should be no pitch invasion. As the game nears its completion its like a military operation with banks and banks of police moving into position to stop a pitch invasion.

You would also think that after the incident where a Hearts fan attacked Neil Lennon on the touchline that stewards and police are drilled to get players and staff off the pitch safely and if both sets of fans make it on to the pitch to try and keep them apart.

When St Mirren won the League Cup did SG not say that the clubs paid a share of the policing and stewarding costs for the semi finals and finals and that our share had run to a few hundred thousand quid?

Here's the link to the rangers rant I mentioned earlier

http://rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/club-statement-60/

I particularly liked the bit about fans having endured prolonged taunting before they snapped and ran on to defend their players and staff... we saw lots of Rangers fans safely escorting their players and staff off the pitch... oh and any other fans would have done the same thing. They want action taken against Hibs but have defended their own fans being on the pitch fighting with Hibs fans... at least they haven't claimed yet that it was Chelsea fans dressed up as Rangers fans on the pitch fighting.
