Ayrshire Saints
Down at my dads on West Loch Tarbert and a glorious, calm Scottish evening rendered useless by the worst midges I can ever remember this early in the season and this despite an expensive anti midge system being deployed. They really are a plague rendering beautiful warm calm nights like this totally useless. Forced us indoors for the CL final. Kintyre midges take a lot of beating, any tips ? In these politically correct days you cant call them midgies. You have to call them persons of restricted growth. WTF are they doing to you anyway? Cant they enjoy the sun like everyone else? RickMcD
Have you ever been up in that neck of the woods when the midges go berserk? It would tip a man over the edge. It's perfectly acceptable to call them anything you like. Thinking about over the edge, could be quite a few guys on this forum have been up there. salmonbuddie
There are quite a few on this forum who have clearly tipped over that edge, Rick...
saintnextlifetime
Apparently , midges are one of the reasons the west coast is so thinly populated , that , and of course Hanoverian Holocaust. .
RickMcD
The potato famine contributed too but you would think it only happened in Ireland.

salmonbuddie
Spent the weekend based in Oban, visited Mull & Iona and the Trossachs on the way home and only got bitten once. That's a result for me, I'm usually midgie central.... Here's proof that Iona's actually in the Caribbean and not the Hebrides.
