shull
After Celtic's Initiative, Ross County are making plans to introduce standing terraces at the Jail End of their Stadium. Seems a good idea. If it's okay for Somerset Park then we can all do it. West Bank for standing ?
whydowebother
I thought removing the rear 5/6 ? rows of Westbank , use that for standing , create good atmosphere in the stand and those standing won't restrict view of those sat in front. You would need to spend a lot of money to change the size of the drop in levels between rows. You can't just take seats out and make it standing. I guess so, in which case starting from what would be the bottom row of standing build them up going backwards ? Either way it'd be really good to have 'safe standing' at all grounds as there is a difference in atmosphere.
guinness
Thought it was not as simple as that. Does it not have to be some sort of rail system which is very expensive.

Why Not? Each row of seats can be removed and replaced with one row of rail seats! Same number of spectators! So if you want to stand, buy your own rail seat fitted for £12/month for 120 months - hurry only 1021 available! Stuart Dickson
It's the most ridiculous idea ever. 1. It reduces the level of safety and crowd control in the stadium. 2. It reduces the ability of those in or around the standing zone to see the football on the pitch. 3. It costs money and in a world where football clubs are rooked surely the most pointless expense possible is taking out seats to install rail seats. 4. It reduces capacity 5. There is absolutely no basis in reality that St Mirren crowds are more likely to sing when they stand up than they are sitting down. A far more reliable way to increase the noise volume in a football stadium is to increase the excitement levels at football matches.

Bullshit! 2. It reduces the ability of those in or around the standing zone to see the football on the pitch. Bullshit! 3. It costs money and in a world where football clubs are rooked surely the most pointless expense possible is taking out seats to install rail seats. Depends on demand! 4. It reduces capacity Bullshit! 5. There is absolutely no basis in reality that St Mirren crowds are more likely to sing when they stand up than they are sitting down. The noisiest section of Dortmund's Stadium is the Standing Zone - FACT! A far more reliable way to increase the noise volume in a football stadium is to increase the excitement levels at football matches. Agreed! Stuart Dickson
Its a return to the lowest common denominator by clubs panicking at shrinking profits. Dunno about shrinking profits. Most clubs haven't seen profit in ages. I've got to say though the business community must look on with utter bewilderment at how stupid football fans are. Seriously! Imagine having your customers come to you telling you that you must reduce safety, comfort, and make it harder to see the thing theyve paid for - with no reduction in ticket price - to attract more customers to your business.
