Fans from outside Paisley

So how do you think our support is narrowed down?

I honestly think most of our support is from other towns, Renfrew, Erskine, Barrhead etc, there isn't many people in Paisley town supporting St Mirren.

We have loads of supporters from Ayrshire, why is that? I know Ayrshire is practically next door to us but why not Kilmarnock?

Great input to the thread fella.....

well you sort of work that out when you speak to different people from different towns, there families and so on, know?

It's pretty much a thread on where you know most Saint Mirren fans from... People I socialise with come from Saltcoats Dalry, Beith, Kilbirnie and Johnstone, Renfrew. Nobody I know personally from Paisley is a St Mirren fan.

I suspect the bulk of our supporters from Ayrshire live close to the Glasgow-Ayr trainline. Getting on at Newton-on-Ayr and travelling up I see a few getting on at most stops.

Paisley born and bred but now live in Ayrshire. I hope you do not expect me to now support Kille as they are closer?

Someone recently reported that 40% of our support live outwith Paisley (which is why we get pissed off when a game is cancelled at the last minute!).

Surely this is the kind of information the club really should have to hand since it's incredibly important for marketing. There was a great news article last week about Stoke City. They had realised their core support was ageing and that they weren't attracting nearly enough kids into the ground so they put in place cheaper pricing, arranged more community events, sent players into schools, gave out free tickets, and put on extra entertainment for families and they were reporting that just under 50% of their support now are under the age of 20. They did acknowledge that much of this was also down to their Premiership status.

Start socialising with those good folk from Ferguslie (they do exist ^_^) and you'll meet plenty of St Mirren fans..

What about this then?

Say you stay in Ayrshire somewhere like Dalry, Beith etc, that's closer to Paisley than Kilmarnock, so what would be your local team? Kilmarnock because it's in the same county or Paisley in a different county?

Why I think we have a good squad of fans from Ayrshire who support st Mirren instead of Kilmarnock is because most of North Ayrshire is actually closer to Paisley, then you get Largs! There local team is regarded as Morton. See where im getting at?

The majority of Ayrshire folk solve this particular dilemma by supporting Sevco.

I've spent two nights of my life living in Paisley. The day I was born, and the night I was married. Fortunately I can't remember much about either occasion.

I spent my early years living in Battlefield and my Grandfather would take me to watch Queens Park when they were at home, and when they weren't my Dad would take me to watch his team - Clyde - they seemed to play at home on alternate weeks.  After we moved to Hillington my Grandfather was doing this quiz thing with me. "Where do Aberdeen come from " - "Aberdeen". Where do Clyde come from" - "The River Clyde". "Where do St Mirren come from?" - "Mirren?" - "Nah Paisley". "Really I was born in Paisley can we go watch them this week".....and the rest is history.

Living in Hillington, Rangers were actually my local team by around 0.1 miles.

Moved to Law Village in Lanarkshire in 1990 and fell out with the St Mirren board in 2002.

Born in Glasgow, early years in Dunfermline then brought up in Houston and now live in Kilwinning.

I live in a small street and there are another 2 Saints fans living there. I also see a car from Stevenston that has a St Mirren badge sticker taking up the whole back window.

Unfortunately still too many Rangers And celtic buses leave the town.

I used to travel to games when i lived in Kilwinning, usually fell asleep on the train home and ended up being wakened by a guard and having to run for the last train back.
