Falkirk V Saint Mirren

If this is not St Mirren's darkest hour what is?
Nothing short of a miracle will save us from relegation to the third tier of Scottish football, which is third rate in itself.
On the bright side, things can only get better.
Someone was saying to me earlier what a difficult league the Championship is to get out of - however we have disproven that!

Yet another disastrous day for St Mirren. Was always going to be tough to get a result in Falkirk, we were always likely to lose, but the manner of this defeat definitely makes it hurt a bit more. Especially with both Dunfermline and Dumbarton picking up points.

Of course Jack Baird is going to made the scapegoat for today, and by all accounts, rightly so. It goes without saying that our problems run far deeper than our young fourth choice centre half though. He isn't the reason we have just went 16 games (sixteen) without a league win, haven't kept a clean sheet since July and sit marooned at the bottom of the second tier.

Jack Ross is now the first Saints manager to lose his first six league games in charge. Tommy Craig also lost his first five but won his sixth. What a horrific record and what a terrible appointment.

These are darkest of dark times. We need investment in January and then we need a miracle if we are going to stay up.

I have a feeling we are going to see neither and we are not only going to get relegated, but we are going to go down without even putting up a fight.

Jack Baird didn't lose us this game. There's was still 10 men on the pitch with a half to play, in which our complete lack of tactical awareness and mental strength has been exploited. But Baird absolutely deserves to get absolutely slaughtered for his sending off.

I'm not sure how you can blame Jack Ross for that defeat today? 1-0 up and cruising then Baird gets sent off for punching somebody?

No hate figure let's not get melodramatic here.

Read the posts about him.  OK he was stupid at best, but to talk about punting him because of this (and we don't know why he punched Miller) is a total overreaction.  If we got shot of every player who has cost us a result this season, we would have nobody left.

Said before and I'll say it again, Baird is a bomb scare. Needs dropped and then punted at the first opportunity. Christ almighty, Cheesy was better than him.

Madness, well intentioned but madness. In the heat of the moment it's easy to say things you regret later but, "Cheesy was better than...."?  You'll feel better in the morning.

It's easy to blame Jack Baird because in a massive game where we were leading and looking for a win that would have been massive for us, he decided to punch an opponent and put us down to ten men for 50 odd minutes. He's a f**king moron. What chance do we have when these players manage to find new ways to f**k things up every week. Ross needs to clear as many of these shitebags out as possible and replace them with players with even a tiny bit of bottle.

We had just won 5-1 on Tuesday and 1-0 up when he got sent off. Our confidence in the league is fragile at best, we needed everyone on the park to get a result against Falkirk who are near the right end of the table. This would have been a great confidence booster. I'm not having the young player excuse either he's had plenty of first team experience, it's not his 2nd top team game or anything like that. He showed poor discipline and should wait a good while for his next top team start.

Why don't we hang him at the cross.

You're asking for the manager to bring in players with bottle, you mean like Goodwin?

Goodwin seemed to be tryng his best to get sent off  (and succeeding) at various stages of his St Mirren career. But we loved him so it didn't matter.

Not defending Baird at all of course.

It is a truly awful time for us. But I dont think relegation is a certainty. We can still catch Dumbarton to get second bottom place then take our chance in the play off.

Why would we want Goodwin back? Why would Goodwin even come back?

Do you think because Goodwin was a liability who kept getting himself sent off means it's OK for Baird to do what he did today?
