Shame. A legendry figure. Visited Cuba 5 times around 10 years ago. A country, like many others, of extremes. One thing was consistent the warmth of the people. RIP Sir.

The country was f*cked up, when I visited the infrastructure was in a horrendous condition. Most people were using horses and carts to get about and the horses were really skinny and in poor condition. The people were on rations for basic food stuff.

Not sure that he was a good thing for people.

50-odd years of economic restrictions by the US will have some impact on those conditions.

Very few people would dispute that democracy is flawed in Cuba but do you really think the regime would have survived since 1959 without the support of a substantial proportion of the people? I prefer to see Castro as the precursor to the economic anti-globalization movement - even right-wingers' like Theresa May have tried to jump on that bandwagon.

There's the definitive list of everyone murdered or disappeared during his reign.

As well as political prisoners he locked away for daring to disagree with his buckled leftarded shite.

Freeeeedoommmmmm!!!

He was a murderous tyrant who imposed poverty and fear on his people. As with all socialist lefty governments, it never ends well.

Disappointed you didn't finish it off by telling us history's over and that you'd won.

Presumably yet another slightly-biased-not-to the-left shitepaper publication?  You really need to get out more, Reynard, find out about real life.

if I could be arsed I could offer up dozens of dodgy dictators propped up by capitalists and US government.

come to think of it -THAT was exactly what prompted Castro and Che to rise as leaders of popular revolutions against oppressive dictators.

NOW... IF YOU GENUINELY WANTED TO DISCUSS VILE, BACKWARD, FREEDOM HATING BELIEF SYSTEMS, then you need look no further than Batista, Pinochet and their ilk, funded by the good ole USA...

You, conveniently forgot to mention all children have free schooling and free hospital care. Sure it's flawed and some of the conditions were poor but not all as Havana has its fair share of decent buildings and infrastructure. Oh, and the weathers nice.

Maybe he even got the trains to run on time unlike our shitty attempt at government in Scotland.

But all in all, the fact that a handful of people got soe free stuff more than makes up for the fact he summarily executed people who dared take a different view.

I think we are getting to see just exactly who the nasty filth actually are in politics. And the freedom hating buffoons.

f**king clowns
