St.Ricky
Was looking back over St Mirren's History. I noticed that St Mirren operated a Team in the Junior Leagues from 1916-1920. Was this a forerunner of the proposed but not very popular Colts System? Very little information seems to be available.
Dibbles old paperboy
Can't be a forerunner to the proposed but not very popular Colts System - St Mirren (juniors) were in it. The proposed but not very popular Colt System only suggests including colts from 2 teams.

I wonder if they acted as a kind of feeder club and whether any players made their way into the full St Mirren Professional League side? SBS
There were a few who made the switch. From the 1917 Scottish Cup winning team Durward, Hart, Leitch and McQuade all played for the senior team later in their careers. Most successful was cup final scorer William Dorward who scored 4 times in 23 appearances in the senior team during 1917/18.

Antique Golf
Any more information on William Dorward? A William Dorward was a good golfer in Carnoustie in 1914. He returned to the town in 1919 to win the golf championship for Scottish football players (an annual tournament). He had been ‘in association with West of Scotland football for a number of years’. Wondered if he was the St Mirren player mentioned here. Dorward emigrated to the USA in 1921 giving his occupation as an engineer living in Clydebank but became a professional golfer in America.
