Takes his slam total to 19, only one behind Federer. Between Federer, Nadal and Djokovic the have won 55 major titles. Poor Murray, wrong time. It's unbelievable isn't it?! I remember thinking that Murray and Djokovic were about the same level years ago - both capable of mixing it on their day and competing with Rafa or Fed who were a level above. Djokovic managed that step up but it sadly just didn't happen for Murray. Still arguably Scotland's greatest ever sportsperson though! The thing I find remarkable about the top 3 guys is the comeback that each of them have had after injury/burnout. They each have looked finished at a point in their career but the comeback they've each made to go and win more top titles is unreal. Nadal particularly - considering the intensity he plays at. Maboza
Superb effort from Murray today to cap off a fine and productive week. Did amazingly well to dig in during the 2nd set while a set and a break down and on the verge of losing another break. 3rd set swung back and forth but he never gave up. A remarkable effort to win a trophy given where he's come from. Up to 127 in the world now. He's jumped a huge number of places in the ATP rankings this week. Cornwall_Saint
Fantastic success for Andy, especially as retirement was looking a major possibility not long ago. Hopefully he can build even more on this.
faraway saint
The Australian Open has embraced the razzmatazz approach. Sing along between matches, countdown when the players are about to enter the court. Just on court the entertainer/bad boy Nick Kyrgios. One thing guaranteed, it'll not be dull. If he gets through he faces Nadal, history between these two will ensure a sell out and sparks will fly.

When I was in Saudi, and Murray was still a force, I used to follow tennis and made some decent money spotting the "surprise" results. My mate from Liverpool messaged me last week asking if there were any players coming through I'd tip, since Murray's injury I don't follow it so much so nothing to give him. To increase the odds on the big players better taking them to win in 3. PS I rarely touch the womens matches, a fecking minefield, shocks all over the place usually. Too much amber nectar.

faraway saint
Djokovic wins in 5 sets. Almost 4 hours on court. His EIGHTH Australian title, what a player. Doesn't have the "likeability" of Federer but is certainly in the mix as one of the best tennis players ever.

You wonder how much longer they can go on, yet Djok continues to take the Aus, Nadal the French, and Federer is still a top competitor. Seriously, how much longer can these guys carry on winning the top prizes? It’s phenomenal as you say, you can’t help but admire them.
