So Friday is men's semi finals day. 

Alcaraz v Fritz and Sinner v Djokovic. 

I'm the last few days we've seen two touches of true sportsmanship from tennis players while under severe pressure. 

Sinner, looking like he was heading home, was first to go to Dimitrov when he fell to the ground with a serious injury. 

Djokovics opponent, Cobolli, also showed concern after a nasty looking fall. 

Class, you either have it or you don't. 

@HSS, what's your preference for the final?

I would like a Alcaraz v Sinner final but would not be heart broken if Djokovic made it

Alcaraz comes through in 4 sets against a very tough opponent in Fritz. 

Alcaraz has slowly stepped up the quality game by game. 

His touch around the net is exquisite. 

Next up, Sinner v Djokovic.

Sinner destroys a lackluster, and possibly injured, Djokovic. 

So Sunday's final, as expected, sees the top two face off for the Wimbledon title.

Sinner, deservedly, wins 3-1.

Alcaraz got a bit lost for parts of the 4th set, frustrated by Sinner being relentless. 

Best man won, as usual.

Henman, as he has been for years, decrying players who play a drop shot when it goes wrong. 

When it works, and Murray and Alcaraz have got lots of points from drop shots, oh, well played says Tim.

So, Wimbledon kicked off yesterday and, unfortunately, the legacy that Andy Murray was supposed to have left that would see an upturn in British talent has failed to materialise. 

10 out of 10 fell at the first hurdle with 1 carrying into today due to it getting dark. 

Absolutely embarrassing.

Oh, great news, some British girl's actually won her match and is through to round two. 👍🎶🎉🎶🌞

Murray is atypical for the UK - his grandfather was an optician who had played professional football which meant he was not allowed to play tennis at an official level.

His mum, The Blessed Judy, was successful at amateur level and tried to go pro before deciding to go to Uni - he's a  complete outlier.

It's a middle class game and aside from players representing the UK through "grandfather rules" the country has an extremely small pool from which to choose.

 Totally unconnected but I was reading that if a player waits until the draw is made before, erm, withdrawing s/he gets to keep 50% of the prize money for R1 which at Wimbers this year is £40k.

Your view is dated as there's been, albeit fairly recent, a considerable rise in players along with a change from the majority being "middle class" which I never found to be true when I played in Paisley. 

I suppose we'll really need to wait another 5-10 years to see if there's an increase in successful players at elite level, which is more to do with coaching than just numbers. 

Murray, and his brother, traveled to Spain to hone their skills but Andy had a determination that can't be taught. 

The LTA have spunked millions away over the years, too busy patting themselves on the back because Wimbledon is such a showpiece. 

They had, and probably still do, dinosaurs at every level, time they became extinct. I know they weren't overly keen on Judy Murray.

Well, sigh, I'm trying to point out that SO FAR there's be no improvement in the standard.

It's probably too early in reality but the early signs are that there's been no significant increase in British players threatening the Slams, Draper apart who, unfortunately, isn't physically up to the rigours that are required at the top table. 

I'm not getting into over analysing, ( or selective quoting,) every word, we've been here before.
