Tommy White; one of the best centre forwards we've ever had.  Scored 20 goals in 35 appearances.

Brother of the late,  great John White , of Spurs and Scotland fame !

Glad to hear others agree on my sceptical ID of Tommy White.

Tommy was a robust and bustling CF, with skill added.  And tricky.

First match at Love Street he did a thing we'd never seen..

High, long ball out of defence - him and CH went for it.  Then...

Tommy ducked down, tiny, crouched on the ground, instead of jumping.  The CH took his eye off the ball.

And Tommy was off and sprinting for the ball following its trajectory when it flew forward - after going unchallenged.

Gamesmanship.  :)

Did he not go in goal in a game at Love Street against Motherwell when DIck Beattie got taken off with a broken ankle/leg following a tackle following a tackle/clash with Bobby Roberts or has my old mind really gone downhill

I was a ballboy at the time he played at Love St.  Getting a close-up behind the goals you could see he was forceful and aggressive.  Could do with him now.

The game against West Brom remains one of the best games of football I’ve seen in my life.
