Scottish Cup Quarter Final Draw

The football club is in the quarter finals of a major tournament for the first time since the season we won the league cup in 2013.

Well done to JR and the team. Draw is tomorrow evening, we will draw one of:

Celtic

Patrick Thistle

Aberdeen

Ayr or Clyde

Dunfermline or Hamilton Accies

Hibs or Hearts

Morton or Rangers

Barring a Clyde win in the replay, we will be drawn against someone above us in the league table. Safe to say everyone else wants us in the next round.

But who do we want? I fancy Patrick Thistle away, think we would beat them. Think we want to avoid trips to Aberdeen, Celtic and The New Club (if they beat Morton).

Ayr away.

Already scheduled to have six games against them this season. A draw against them in this cup could mean eight games between the teams in one season, which is the most any two Scottish senior clubs can play each other competitively in a single term.

Wonder if it's happened before?

Apart from 2 teams competing in the promotion playoffs, that would be 10.

At a point earlier today, the BBC had one of the teams left in the cup, named : Hibernain.

so maybe NOT against them for finance...?

Teams in Leagues 1 and 2 could potentially meet each other on 10 occasions if you factor in playoffs.

Thistle have played both Livi and Caley 7 times in a season.

Indeed. Should have said in the regular season emoji848.png

Just thought about this there and we were both actually wrong.

It's 11 with the new League Cup format where you could meet a team in your group in the knockout stages.

Accounted for that.

4 league games

2 Scottish cup

2 league cup

1 challenge cup or whatever its called

2 playoff games

The play offs would only work for teams trying to get promoted.Team in relegation play off would be playing a team from the League below.
